Great book, there’s just this one thing…. This is a really well written, very insightful book about how slowing down is actually the way of Jesus and leads to a vast improvement in our lives. I enjoyed it immensely. However, there are a few points in the book that felt were written with a political agenda. There are several references to social justice that are very far-left leaning and antithetical to Judeo-Christian values (on which the United Stated was founded). And the United States is actually called out as being the a major culprit of this so-called social injustice. 98 percent of this book is spot on and my outlook on modern life has definitely been called into question, which is the point. So if you ignore the 2% of this book that is borderline Anti-American cleverly weaved into biblical principles, you will get inspired to improve your life and have the life Jesus died for us to have. I would have given it 5 stars without the politics.

100% worth the read. One of those books that simply lined up and confirmed what the Spirit of God was already pressing on my heart through his word.

Awakened my soul. I’m torn between wanting to lend this book to everyone I know, and wanting to keep it forever so I can read it again and again to let these life-altering and desperately needed words truly soak in to my being. I feel like I’ve been asleep, and my spirit knew what I needed, but this book allowed me to listen to what I was too busy to hear from the Holy Spirt. Reading John Mark’s words feels just like listening to one of his sermons—a gentle-yet-powerful conversation from a friend seeking Jesus and full of wisdom. I feel convicted and encouraged to begin putting these four practices to play in my life to be able to encounter God in the slow and quiet, and find myself there as well. Thank you, John Mark! Your book is a gift.

Living life on God’s time. God’s timing is perfect and He knew this was what I needed just when I needed it. I had been trying to eliminate some areas of hurry in my life but couldn’t do it on my own. This book was just the roadmap for me and perhaps for you. Let go and let God have it.

Beautiful tribute to Dallas Willard. What a tribute to Dallas Willard! This is what Dallas hoped would happen in the kingdom of god. Holy Spirit through the ages invites people to enter this kingdom and this book in a contemporary way reveals more of the divine conspiracy.

I voice in the wilderness offering rest for your soul. At last a book that spoke to the true desire of my heart, to slow down, experience all each moment has to offer and live in Jesus’s offer of the easy yoke. I highly recommend giving this book a read and then trying the practices it recommends and see if you find rest for your soul.

Ruthlessly Honest and Abundantly Wise. To preface, I am a 22 year old male in graduate school who struggles with anxiety and attention issues (as so many of us do). This book allowed me to look into my actions and see Christ’s path for my attention. My issue isn’t that I have anxiety or attention issues, but rather it is my incessant need to keep going. If you have time, read this incredible book. If you don’t have time, you NEED to read this incredible book.

Changed my life. Period.. I hear about a lot of books people recommend because they are “good books” to read. I’ve read a lot of books based on recommendations that I’d enjoy a particular author/book. In the last two months, I’ve told people not to start reading this book unless they are seriously ready to hear about and make life changes in keeping with following Jesus in this broken world. This book has been, for me, far beyond a good book. It’s been a game-changing, life-altering dive into the depth of my soul, my habits, and my attitudes. Read it now. My only recommendation is to simply pray before you read it, “Lord, whatever truth is in here, let it take deep root it my soul as I seek to know and follow You. Amen.” Press on.

Excellent! Life changing. This is a great book. I have rushed through the 51 years on this Earth. I pray that I can slow down and live in the moment; yielding my every thought, word, deed … to the Guidance of my Lord and Savior to the point that he controls every part of me as well as all that he has blessed me with.

One of the best books around. This book is like a soothing balm to a frazzled soul. I have read it before. Actually I listened to the audiobook a couple of years ago. I remembered some nuggets, but not all. Reading it, instead of listening, was a better approach for me. (Aren’t audiobooks kind of a hurry thing anyway?) I read through it slowly. Each time I opened a chapter, I felt my soul breathe a little easier. It’s funny because I am actually a little sad that the book came to an end. I usually only think that sort of thing with a fiction book. But I hope I will keep coming back to this book, like a manual. If you are like me and you are tired of the hurry and the noise of life - get this book and savor it. You will gain a lot of insight on how to ruthlessly eliminate hurry in your life. Your soul will thank you.
