The Reason for God Book Reviews
The Reason for God by Timothy Keller Book Summary
A New York Times bestseller people can believe in—by "a pioneer of the new urban Christians" (Christianity Today) and the "C.S. Lewis for the 21st century" (Newsweek).
Timothy Keller, the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, addresses the frequent doubts that skeptics, and even ardent believers, have about religion. Using literature, philosophy, real-life conversations, and potent reasoning, Keller explains how the belief in a Christian God is, in fact, a sound and rational one. To true believers he offers a solid platform on which to stand their ground against the backlash to religion created by the Age of Skepticism. And to skeptics, atheists, and agnostics, he provides a challenging argument for pursuing the reason for God.

Great book. This is without a doubt the best Christian book that I have read in years. He explains better than most the truth of the Gospel.
Great read!. As a believer who often encounters some of the same questions, this book has given me some valuable insight. I always tried to explain some of the same points but failed miserably. His explanations are on-point and I can now answer questions with far more confidence when encountering a curious atheist. This is not meant to be proof for God as some people below suggested, but rather it is to provide better insight on the real meaning of Christianity and makes a very well thought out case in response to all the doubts and accusations Christians are faced with.
Same old thing. If you've read anything about the debate of theism, this is nothing new. Definitely not worth the price. Borrow from the library instead. Again, "that which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence"
MUST READ!!!!!. Probably the best book I've read thus far!
Great read!. I found this book to be very insightful. I like the different takes to common issues.
Logical Gymnastics. I am trying to continue with this book past the first chapter, but the author is repeatedly drawing conclusions based on premises so malleable that they contain an almost infinite number of potential meanings, resulting in conclusions of limited usefulness. Readers who have honed their critical thinking skills will find that following the author's arguments from premises to conclusion can be a frustrating and often invalid process.
Amazing book. Pastor Tim Keller tells an amazing story of hope through Jesus to even the most skeptical person. Please read this book. It will change your life, give you hope, and purpose.
Must-read for those interested in the intellectual arguments for and against Christianity.. Timothy Keller’s book is an easily accessible, convincing presentation of the intellectual arguments for faith. The author aptly reasons through dense philosophical and theological concepts such as sin, miracles, the triune God, and hell in easy-to-understand language, while acknowledging the purely auxiliary nature of his intellectual points to the central truths of the Gospel. Highly recommended.
Same as always. Mr. Keller is a very good writer, and on that note, I give this book 5 stars. However, this book is meant to answer the big questions about god, and it fails miserably. He does actually acknowledge the questions, but then he just makes very well thought out excuses.
A modern classic. I simply have not read a better book that so wisely addresses modern doubts with religion and Christianity, as well as positively representing the Christian faith. Anyone from any spiritual persuasion should read this, which is why it was a New York Times best seller for so long.
A Strong Guide to Christianity. An excellent book that makes the case for God and the logic and truth of becoming and being Christian. It has motivated us to hold a class at our church. It will challenge the believer and non believer.
Superb!. Effectively addresses most of the doubts skeptics struggle with when evaluating Christianity.
Excellent for Christian and Non-Christian Alike. The iBookstore description above of the book says it all. If you want an irenic, substantive examination of and answer to objections against Christianity, you'll find this an excellent book. What C.S. Lewis did with Mere Christianity back in the 1940's, Keller does for us today.
A good read. I did this as part of a church small group…as always Keller explains well…and shows how a person can let the real Jesus find her!
Great Reasoning. Tim Keller does a great job working through many of the common objections to Christianity. He is easy to understand and very insightful.
