Now he tells all about life inside the iconic white helmet. What it's like to guide a blind ex-RAF officer around the Top Gear track; pit a drug dealer's Mitsubishi Evo against a Trojan tank; set a Vauxhall Monara against Chloe the dancing Ninja; and race double-decker Routemasters against bendy buses. Not to mention all the inside stuff on how the show's amazing driving sequences are made.
He also reveals how he got to be there – setting
a Dunsfold lap time faster than Michael Schumacher's. Breaking records with the best of the best at Daytona and Le Mans.

About the author
Ben Collins was born in Bristol before moving to California, where he competed as a junior Olympic standard swimmer. When a career as a fighter pilot was cut short by a visit to the optician, Ben switched to cars. He won races in every category from Formula Three to Le Mans Sportscars and GT, and captured the European ASCAR title. When a lack of funding curtailed his racing career, Ben joined the Army Reserves. He also worked as a Hollywood stuntman. In 2003 he became the anonymous fourth presenter, known as The Stig, of Top Gear, coaching celebrities, organising car chases and testing hundreds of priceless cars. Eight years and 13 series on, his alter ego is recognised by millions around the world. Ben loves in the West country with his wife Georgie and 3 children.

Looses its fizz until the end picks you up. Book starts off great but get a bit boring at times. A lot of chapters are dedicated to Bens army career, which was something I did not know about him but you can see it’s a foundation which he holds quite dearly. What disappointed me was I expected more of the insights of being the stig on top gear. More behind the scenes of how the episodes were created.
Great read. Great story with insight into many different facets of motor sport.

Apple rip off. Great book but I bought it for £10 in hardback book form apple ripping people off for ebook they need to sort pricing out!!
Great read. It's a great book, if you love TG then this is for you. Ben is no Shakespeare but it's interesting and engaging.

Too expensive. Stop ripping your customers off apple - £15 for an ebook is ridiculous - I will be buying it through the kindle app instead!
The Man in the White suit. A fantastic read. Doesn't just focus on TopGear. Racing world action left me informed and breathless. No idle gossip from Ben- just career anecdotes. He has been very much mis- represented if you think this book is a 'kiss and tell' novel. A brilliant driver who could have used his 'character' to further his racing career years ago! Great stuff!! Brilliantly interesting read. I cant disagree more with the poor reviews of this book. I found it to be an interesting, funny and gripping read. It was Collins' connection to Top Gear that attracted me to reading this, but I have to say that this book is more than just telling the story of Top Gear. Collins has led an extraordinary life, and is clearly a talent behind the wheel, and this gives the reader an insight into the world of motor racing, showbiz and curiously; the armed forces. If you're already a fan of TG, don't hesitate. Brilliant from start to finish.
