just okay. This book was just okay. The crime itself is both horrific and fascinating, however this book is repetitive, not very well written, and just seems to drag out the story unnecessarily. I have read a lot of true crime books and I found this one to be one of the least interesting - I had to skip a lot towards the end and even then I came across whole pages of the same quotes & theories repeated over and over. I was happy to finally get the book over with. Ugh.
Excellent. Once again, Michael W Cuneo delivers a spellbinding page turner about a gruesome triple murder. Unlike many true crime books, the killer is not immediately revealed. The added element of mystery adds intrigue and interest to a genre of books not usually known for such qualities. In A Need to Kill, of course family members are the first to be suspected. But with little evidence and no discernible motive, the case becomes baffling to even top notch law enforcement. It is a harrowing look into the mind of an evil killer devoid of soul, whose actions leave numerous tragic victims in his wake. My highest recommendation.
