This book is for children!. My daughter loves to wear pants and tennis shoes, run around with toy trucks and play in the dirt. 100 years ago this would have been shocking and un-allowable. Nowadays it's not just normal, it is expected female child behavior. Why is it ok for little girls to cross over and play with boy stuff, but not vice-versa? It's not God, its modern-day convention and American machismo that dictates this. Maybe it would be best for our young children if we grown-ups stopped passing judgement on their ideas of self-expression and fun play, and let them be themselves. I think history has proven that repression and guilt does nothing positive for a child's developing pysche. This book is for meant for children who may have "why" questions about gender-fixed games, toys and activities. If an adult has questions about this issue, I suggest they look in the adult book section.

What a Wonderful Mother. Thank you for writing this book. It means so much to me. Being different is always hard, and I think we all wish we could have a mother like you. Great job!

My princess boy. What a wonderful book this is for children who like wearing pink and tiaras but still like to climb trees. It is about time the antiquated girl boy stereotypes be broken down.this is about individualism and not being afraid to be who you truly are. The family that wrote this book is amazing and is providing their child with great self esteem not only now but in the future as well. I am purchasing this book for my children to show them that they should act how they truly feel not how someone says they should feel or dress.

This is a great parable and lesson on tolerance!. First of all, let's not bring religion and personal prejudice into these reviews; this book is about TOLERANCE, and ACCEPTING your children for who they are, even if they may not conform to society's ideas. Not all boys play sports, and not all girls like pink; we MUST accept our children for who they are and not make them feel like outcasts before they are even thrust out into the world. This is a great book that deserves much praise!

Hate should not be met with hate, but with compassion & forgiveness. This book is an inspirational tale on being different — diversity should be a quality conveyed to every child in order to open their minds to change, as this world holds an omnifariousness that should be adressed with amazement & respect And for all those bible quoters with prejudice in their heart, alloting vile judgement: "Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" Matthew 7:1-3

My princess boy and girl. Great book, to all you idiots who think they are quoting the bible, so you would rather have a dead child then a happy child who is gay child because if your ignorance that is what will happen. The book is great so just review the book and stop pushing what you believe to be true down our throats! GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!

Oddly inspiring!. I love how authors and books have the ability to incite subjective opinions in their readers. For example the Geneva bible- the first English translation from Hebrew and Greek (old and new testament respectively) makes no mention of the evils of homosexuality yet modern religious cultures and the fanatics therein claim to read as much. Religious texts are constantly twisted and manipulated simply to promote conservative social norms or the agenda of a leading majority. A former First Lady once said to me "never subject yourself to that which society demands". She too was a writer and understood this issue explicitly. This book tells a story about a boy that happens to love a shade of red that has, until recently, been considered feminine in U.S. culture. Notice that men are wearing more pink these days. He also loves nature and sparkly things. For those that find this story unpalatable consider this; in nature the male species is far more "pretty" than the female and it's always been that way. Food for thought. I enjoyed the book and recommend its reading. Cheers!

An important message. I think the premise of this book is wonderful; the world is truly a happier, brighter, and safer place when we come to understand that difference is an ok thing. Perhaps the other reviewer might do well to remember that casting judgment is biblically wrong, and that the reason that gay people have such a difficult life is precisely because of views like the ones espoused in that review. If the attitude towards sexuality (which is truly rooted simply in a difference in with whom one choses to fall in love), and differences in general, is more enlightened, then those who are different needn't live lives that are more difficult than those lived by people who live within the established norm. That is exactly what this book (and others like it) tries to address.
