The Collapse of the Theory of Evolution in 20 Questions by Harun Yahya Book Summary

The Theory of Evolution has been around for 150 years, and has had a great influence on the way people look at the world. This book considers the invalidity of the theory of evolution at a lay level. Evolutionists’ claims on certain matters are responded to with questions that are frequently asked, the meanings of which are not often understood. The answers provided in this book can be found in more scientific detail in other Harun Yahya books such as The Evolution Deceit, and Darwinism Refuted.

Tired. The same tired anti evolution arguments repeated by yet another man with little to no grasp on the subject. But I'm sure idiots will read it anyways...

Oi. Why do people think that just becouse you don't believe in evolution, that makes you a creationist. Hears what I do know, that no one knows what happened and darwan does not know what happened ether. Also why make fun of Christians for having faith in a god. when you need to have a strong faith to believe in darwans theory, because his theory has not been totally proved, but yet you have "faith" that the theory is a fact. - look at both sides of the facts before forming your own opinion.

This book is nonsense. Just a bunch of claims without support. "x is wrong, y is wrong" etc etc without providing any evidence as to why x and y are wrong. The most disgusting thing is that some people will read this and somehow think that this man makes convincing arguments. These people should be on some type of medication.

Amazing as usual. I wonder why some ostriches still keep their heads in the sand and fight anything against what they believe. Harun's books are all scientifically proven and logical. Plus they are backed by the God's revelation.

Waste of time. No wonder this guys book are free. no one would pay for them. What a disgrace

Good read. Destroys the fundamental basics of evolutuion.

There is no proof that Evolution is true either!. Who has lived long enough (billions years) to gather enough evidence to prove evolution? It's nothing but pure theory!! ;-)

Eye-opening. When I first got this iBook I was skeptical, because most of the anti-evolution articles that I had read before had been based on spiritual arguments involving little fact or reason. This book is the complete opposite of that, this has made me change my views on evolution and I was surprised that many of his claims were, in fact, factual after I had checked them. Most of the critical reviews are just angry atheists who came to their conclusion about the book as soon as they saw the title.

One of the best!. Great read that use logic and science about the collapse of evolution

Garbage. Unlike many other bashers of this book, I read it cover to cover. I'm a high school biology teacher and a theist. I like to read up on every possible position on a topic, even the most nonsensical. I've read through Behe and Meyers- other critics of evolutionary theory with and open mind and while I remain unconvinced, their arguments were at least well stated and logical. I could trust the authors that they were giving me true information that they were simply looking in the wrong light. This book was shear rubbish. The information presented is either so grossly distorted or flat out untrue that I simply could not trust the author anymore after the first chapter. This is a sick, saddening interpretation of argument and reason and is one of the only books (and I've read a ton) that actually made me angrier with each page. Spends most of the book straw-manning and quote mining leading up to his final argument that Darwin's Theory has cause all of humanity's genocides and atrocities. (Funny how such things are historically far less common in the 150 years since Darwin than before). This book is is a propaganda mess and not worth your time.

Great read. URWD8 I don't know what your talking about this guy not knowing his stuff. I went into reading this book more of a joke to read a religious man banter about things he doesn't know about. Which if you only read the first chapter I can see someone thinking that. But as I went on this man really did his research. I double checked his references to make sure he was speaking the truth. Sure enough they checked out. All in all this is a great book if you want some knowledge of the anti evolution argument. As a pro evolutionist I was impressed with the knowledge this book contained. Just be sure to read past the first chapter :)

Incredibly Weak Arguments. This book does not make a strong case against evolution. I am twelve years old and was able, off the top of my head, to refute most of the arguments made in this book.

Pure ignorance!. I'm sorry but while evolution is a theory it's a scientific theory. That means that every single bit of evidence that we have discovered has backed up. It's not stated as fact, because the scientific community is smart enough to realize that nothing is 100% known. However denying evolution is like saying that if you dropped an apple, then it wouldn't hit the ground. Every other time that this has been tested it hit the ground so it will almost definitely do the same now. I hope that people realize that all of our smartest individuals in the world recognize evolution and that you and I are most certainly not more knowledgable or as smart as these people so there's no way that you are right when you go against them. Open your eyes to the wisdom of science and embrace it.

Great fiction.... ...but that's all it is.

Know the truth about the evolution theory. Unveiling the lies in the evolution theory

Don't read.. Allah should have made you smarter. Oh wait. Then you wouldn't believe in him.

Excellent. Evolution is nothing but a lie. There is no evidence for it. Much less a shred of proof. Atheists have to believe in it because the alternative is God. Well written refutation!

Complete rubbish. The claims of this author are so outrageous it is absolutely stunning. He is absolutely unrestrained by logic, or the reality of modern science. Take this quote from his introduction, for example, "The claims of this author are so outrageous it is absolutely stunning. He is absolutely unrestrained by logic, or the reality of modern science. Take this quote from his introduction as an example, “Today, such branches of science as paleontology, genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology have proven that it is quite impossible for life to come about as a result of chance and to emerge by itself from natural conditions.” What utter nonsense. None of these fields of science have come to this conclusion. To the contrary, there has been an enormous level of confirmation and elucidation of the detail of evolution from each of these fields - way beyond what Darwin could ever have imagined. He goes on to state his principal premise: “The living cell, it is commonly agreed by the world of science, is the most complex structure that mankind has so far encountered. Modern science has revealed that just one living cell has a much more complex structure and mutually interconnected complicated systems than a large city. Such a complex structure can only function if all its separate parts emerge at the same time and in full working order.” Firstly, biologists don’t go around comparing apples and oranges (the relative complexity of a cell vs a city) this is more of philosophical musing. — The premise is the same old premise that creationists have been claiming for the last century. Its not even logical. Even a city does not “emerge at the same time and in full working order”. Most cities grow from smaller cities which grew from smaller towns or even villages. Likewise, evolutionary biologists have been carefully been tracing back the ancestry of species, anatomical developments and even the evolution of single celled organisms and viruses. His central hypothesis has been refuted time and again, and it is not even a point of discussion in scientific circles. It would be one thing for him to expound on these ideas on a religious or philosophical basis. But for him to claim that he speaks for the scientific community is preposterous and borders on sheer lunacy.

Question #21: Who on earth would believe this crap?. As just one example of his total lack of knowledge on the subject: (from p.7) “Among the fossils discovered over the years, there is not one trace of the intermediate forms that would be necessary if living things were to have evolved stage by stage…” Uh..Tiktaalik, an “intermediate” species between (basically) a fish and a tetrapod was discovered by Neil Shubin in 2004 and definitively shows a transistion in the evolution of this ancestral line.

He still is TOTALLY clueless about science!. This book would be humorous except that the author believes this! He is totally clueless both on what he is talking about and and about how science works. His ignorance in the topic is his only strength. If he would do even the slightest research, objectively and comprehensively, he would quite simply see why he is wrong, 20 times. The problem is that he doesn't want to know the truth and the facts because they don't fit into his beliefs. The proverbial ostrich with its head in the sand. Not acknowledging something doesn't make it any less true and it doesn't change reality.

Donot read this book. Full of rubbish and clouded religious gibberish. Author has no ability to have critical thinking.

Full of unintended chuckles!. This book is worth reading for its unintended comedic value. Author is very naive in his understanding of what evolution by natural selection is. One star for the belly laughs though! Thanks

Totally unscientific.... This is an appalling book. It is full of quotes and comments supposingly refuting the theory of evolution but the quotes simply state how unlikely it is that life came about by chance, but that doesn't mean it didn't. Apparently there have been countless experiments providing evidence for creationism but the author never gives details of this research nor provides names of the scientists involved. It's an unscientific piece of religious dogma - give it a miss.

M. Utter nonsense

Meaningless. Barely worth the trouble writing a negative view. The very first paragraph says the author knows little about science, and nothing at all about Darwin's theory, or even what the word "theory" means in this context. This is an insult even to those who believe in creationism. Useful only as an example of how not to argue a point of view.

Read only if you are not ignorant. For people who are willing to accept a different point if view

Puerile propaganda. Harun Yahya does not seem to understand the word “fact”. This book is propaganda for those who are willing to believe anything. Whilst puporting to debunk evolution it relies on bald assertions. If you already believe literally in the Bible, Koran or Talmud then maybe this is the book for you. If you look for reason and evidence you won’t find it here.

What a hoot! Hilarious book. What a great piece of comedy this book turned out to be. I downloaded it expecting to read some of the other viewpoints about evolution and some of the unanswered questions, what I read was something quite different! The book is full of nonesense reasoning and attempts at logic, such as "if evolution is disproved, the only alternative is creation. Since I have disproved evolution (obviously because there is no evidence) therefore creation is true". The author holds many views like this as scientific fact. At first I was incredulous, but after a while I just began to laugh, as it was so misguided that I feel sorry for anyone who actually has to listen to this man's views in person. Seriously though don't download this book, I wish I hadn't as its only going to contribute to it getting higher up the chart. What a load of old rubbish!

PabloTM. Opinionated bilge! An ideal example of what happens when somebody commits to an idea, or ideology; evidence that contradicts their opinion is ignored, distorted, or misrepresented. They're I'm not sure if Harun Yahya exists, but if s/he does, it might actually be worth reading The Origin of Species, at least once. While you're at it try reading-up on DNA, inheritability, domestication of wild animals, behavioural similarities between phylum, and differences within species, etc, etc, etc. Utter Crap!

Read this book if you want a good laugh, it's pretty Funny.. If you want something serious, give it a wide birth. It's utterly ridiculous. Lots of the arguments are circular, it's full of misquotes, makes reference to experiments without giving any details and is just plain ignorant.

This book makes a lot of sense. This is the real truth

Dogma trying to sound like Science. It is obvious from the very first page that the author has either; not considered or, has no understanding of, the vast amount of evidence that supports the theory of evolution. Read it if you want laugh. The arguments are really quite silly.

The collapse of the theory of evolution in 20 questions. This is probably one of the best books i have read full of information i never knew existed and completely restored my faith in god and a devine creator other books might contridict this book but in my opinion its all about what you want to beleive but there is a lot of facts and make no mistake they are facts in this book to make you think again on the origins of life and evolution great book 10/10 hugh trainer

Frustratingly bad book. What a terrible book. No wonder it's free. The most small minded piece of rubbish I've ever read. This man only has one agenda and that's to mislead people and it's quite clear of that from the first chapter.

Rubbish. Interestingly, he asserts that intermediate fossils have never been found. I am assuming by intermediate he is talking about transitional fossils. However, there is a picture of a fossilised Archaeopteryx on the front cover of this book! Archaeopteryx is accepted (by scientists who do actually know what they are talking about) as an intermediary form between dinosaurs and Avians. Baseless, non scientific and childish assertions made by a god botherer who can’t bear to live without his religious “comfort bubble.”

No actual facts used to disprove the theory. Quote: [Evolution] is not...a proven fact. The author pretty much bases the whole book on this statement, yet fails to recognise that neither is the existance of god. I would, however, be willing to put that aside if his statements to back up his beliefs were not so narrowminded. This man is clearly on a crusade and needs to stop writing such rubbish.

What a joke!. It's amazing what kind of argument you can make when you choose the evidence to make your case with. Many of the "facts" in this book are out of date or just plain wrong. Scientific knowledge developers through the gradual adjustment of a theory based on whats observed, not preserved based on an shakable concept which will never be changed. I really wish religious idiots would stop trying to act scientific, they just don't get it.

Hmmm. In many peoples opinion there are questions that evolution needs to answer regarding its scientific basis. But, regardless of whether one agrees with that statement or not, reviews that do little other than to suggest one lacks in intelligence if one sees that these problems exist, serve only to reinforce the author's argument of a deep ideological basis, below that of science, to evolution. The "self-evident" nature of evolution (akin to gravity etc.) seriously means nothing to this debate and if someone truly thinks that that's all they need to espouse, then their own belief structures probably lie closer in nature to that of the author than they might suppose (or be comfortable in acknowledging to themselves). Happily, at least one review attempts to discuss the validity of the book, but by simply suggesting cherry picking it still comes down to attacking the author and not the evidence he does present... And, if being up to date was a solution to the question, then one might wonder why some people place so much emphasis on a book that's 152 years old, setting forth a simplistic mechanism (Natural Selection) for an ideology (evolution) that traces its roots back to Aristotle's great chain of being from millennia ago. Imho, an interesting book that raises some good questions.

future titles from this author. Harun Yahya - a debunking; Gravity is not real!, Harun Yahya - why breath? Harun Yahya - Vaccines are the devil's plaything, and many other great novels from this fabulous mind!!!!!!!!

Don't know what I expected.... A baseless, straw-man rant. Not an actual representation of science, more one man's very personal and ill-informed attack. Claims to the effect of "no scientific evidence", need to be made with a little more care. Plenty of evidence exists for the slow alteration of genes in populations. There's genetic similarity between species that closely mimics theorized evolution patterns - changes in the shapes and numbers of chromosomes (from species to species) can be tracked throughout evolutionary history to the events that caused them. I don't think evolution disproved God; I think it's likely that genesis reads more as an analogy of the history of the universe than with the exactness of an engineer's blueprint. The question is, does Genesis prove God to be simple? This book could have been much more interesting

Informative & logical. What a great author who understands his topic and refute long-believed concepts adopted by the West.

Same old. I would say that the basic argument of the book resorts to an old, repeated logical fallacy: false dichotomy. It is an either/or fallacy where by trying to discredit one viewpoint or theory in this case, instantly lends support to the supposed only other theoretical alternative. So by trying to use fallacious evolutionary arguments, the author thinks this then automatically bolsters his creationist viewpoint. I noticed that all creationist diatribes against evolution (or is it natural selection), when failing to butcher or misconstrue the available evidence supporting evolution, resort to almost every type of logical fallacy known. Here's a quick list I gathered from reading just the sample: Excluded middle - false dichotomy Straw man argument Ad homenim Baseless assertions Slippery slope Non sequitur Burden of proof Argument From Adverse Consequences (Appeal To Fear, Scare Tactics) Argument from age Argument by emotive language Stolen concept Argument from authority Argument as an authority Appeal to anonymous authority Causal reductionism Complex question Argument by pigheadedness Argument by half truth Argument by selective reading Argument by generalization Error of fact Argument from personal astonishment Pious fraud Outdated information Moving the goalposts Appeal to complexity Appeal to common sense Quote mining and quotes out of context

Great book. Great book by a great author

Awful. Poorly written

Anything lower than 1 star.. Can't even buy the book because the sample is just awful! Entire thesis of the first chapter are just lies, nothing but lies, and also A HUGE AMOUNT of vague statements. Deluded writer.
