Some difficulty. This book had a lot of great information but used words and names which made it difficult to read and ultimately to understand. This books includes a page from the author at the end, which an adult would have to read to a student. Overall, a difficult book to read.

Great book!. Informative, accessible, and absorbing. The author and illustrator have done a remarkable job making the information clear and engaging--budding paleontologists love it!

The Day the dinosaurs Died. I thought the book was really, really, really good. Harrison, age 5.

Inappropriate Violence. You have to get this book out of your book store. You should be ashamed of yourselves. When I see a book at Reading Level 2, I have to feel safe that it is not going to do harm. Did anyone read this? The text is beyond belief, with incredibly horrifying detail about dinosaurs eating each other, dead carcases lying around, rotting, grim specifics about how much the animals suffered. The illustrations are almost too frightening for adults. I have now showed the book to several of my well-educated and generally liberal friends, and their reactions are unanimous. My five year old grandson is reading easily at Levels 2 and 3. I He is crazy about dinosaurs. Providing the most popular theory about what happened to the dinosaurs is wonderful. Of course children need to learn as much as possible about everything. What you have done here, with the Apple seal of approval, is inexcusable. If I knew who to contact, I would report this. Not just Apple's involvement, but the very fact of the book ever being published in the first place, with the Level 2 rating. I am a very long-time fan and customer of Apple, and I was thrilled to discover this feature. I have rarely been so angry in my life. You need to fix this problem and consider more carefully what you sell.

2nd iBook Review. Charlotte Lewis Brown’s The Day the Dinosaurs Died excited me with its detailed pictures and interesting dinosaur names. The target audience for this book would be for second graders. Kids who like dinosaurs should also read this book. The tone of the book is suspenseful. It was suspenseful because I did not know if living things would survive the asteroid. The special features of this book are the realistic illustrations and the author’s note. The illustrations looked almost like they were a real picture. The author’s note had really interesting dinosaur facts. The characters in the story were believable and unaware. They were believable because the author had the dinosaurs do dinosaur things. They were unaware because they did not see the bright asteroid falling from the sky. The book is about dinosaurs facing an asteroid. Some of the dinosaurs were a tyrannosaurs rex, a triceratops, and the parasaurolophuses. How did the dinosaurs die? Read to find out! The book reminds me of Jurassic Park. It reminds me of this movie because of the variety of dinosaurs and how realistic they looked. I recommend this book because I was enthused while reading it. Even though I am a fifth grader, this book was interesting because I like dinosaurs.

Not for 1st graders. Very strong words about death and destruction. As an adult, I know what happened to the dinosaurs but there has got to be a better way to explain this visually and through words to a child just starting out. The pictures are so graphic! Should be higher than a level 2. Only giving 2 stars because of the drawings.
