Essential reading. An essential read to anybody in the oil and gas industry or in any way impacted by this industry ( which is all of us ....).The book is obviously extremely well researched. I can imagine how difficult it was to obtain information about a company that is closed to the public and highly guarded. The author in his attempt to build a story telling approach to the book made it long and somewhat redundant at times. Apart from that, I would highly recommend this book.

Bug. A great book, but not able to re-download it for some reason. I hope this bug is fixed.

Another phenomenal in-depth analysis. I first read Coll's Ghost Wars in 2008 after seeing it referenced several times. I looked forward to his next subject matter and was not disappointed! The title is appropriate; the reach and depth of resources of ExxonMobil makes the corporation a very powerful world player with more influence over geolitics than one might initially understand. Coll's blend of exhaustive research and compelling storytelling makes this a fantastic read for anyone interested in the recent history of the most powerful corporation of our current times.

Get a Soul. Exxon is worse than South Carolina' infamous Joe "You lie" Wilson's disgraceful shout out at a State of the Union address. Tarring and feathering these cold hearted narcissists would be too good for them. Their kind of talk is going to kill hundreds of thousands of people and cause the displacement of millions more. This book does a global service by saying what and naming who are ready to commit moral atrocities for a buck.
