La cineasta puertorriquena Ivonne Belen inicia su filme Julia, toda en mi con la lectura del poema que Julia de Burgos (1914-53) titulo justamente asi. El documental reconstruye el mundo de la maestra normalista que transgredio con su vida, poemas y proyeccion politica, las fronteras de genero, los paradigmas sociales, y el panorama de la poesia boricua. Una voz en off repite las palabras iniciales del poderoso poema, mientras la camara filma la corriente indomita del rio Grande de Loiza: "Yo quise ser como los hombres quisieron que yo fuera/un intento de vida, un juego al escondite con mi ser/pero yo estaba hecha de presentes y fui toda en mi,/como fue en mi la vida". Apartandose de la narrativa lineal, Belen usa imagenes metaforicas para estructurar una poema cinematografico, el modo mas justo de recrear a esta poeta maldita del siglo XX: "No queria hacer un documental mas, sino una interpretacion de sus textos poeticos a traves de la poesia visual" (entrevista telefonica, Miami, 28 de abril 2009).
