La fin by Snicket, Lemony & Lemony Snicket Book Summary
Le dernier tome de la série culte !
Tout a une fin - même les Désastreuses aventures des orphelins Baudelaire. Nous avions été prévenus : pas de happy end (en français dans le texte), et ce volume 13 contient sa dose d'ingrédients navrants, contre lesquels Snicket, comme toujours, met en garde son " Cher lecteur " - terrible tempête, breuvage douteux, cage à oiseau surdimensionnée (pour misérable oiseau rare), secret troublant concernant le passé des parents Baudelaire... Une triste fin, alors, ou une fin triste ? Douce-amère plutôt, et drôle, et profonde - et plus concentrée encore en inattendu que les précédents épisodes. Tout commençait mal, tout finit-il donc mal ? Pas vraiment non plus, puisque en réalité rien ne finit jamais, ni d'ailleurs ne commence, telle est la conclusion en substance... Après la tempête susmentionnée, le trio Baudelaire se retrouve en effet sur une île étrange - celle qui voit s'échouer sur ses grèves, tôt ou tard, tous les vestiges du passé, tous les débris de naufrages au propre comme au figuré, sans parler de quelques naufragés. Accueillis par les îliens, apparemment pacifiques, les trois enfants vont faire là de bien curieuses découvertes, y compris sur leur propre histoire. Cette île sans nom serait-elle le dernier lieu sûr à l'écart du monde perfide ? Aux jeunes Baudelaire d'en décider, et au lecteur au moins autant, car pour finir tout reste ouvert dans ce beau conte philosophique riche en suspense, en interrogations, en poésie, en tendresse aussi... mais sans excès de sucre.
