Great book. As a parent of one of the kid writers, I can tell you that my child was engaged from start to finish in helping to make this book. Plus, she is proud as a peacock to show her first published work, as she should be!! What a priceless memory this class has created.

Historical, Enchanting, and Adorable. Laura Wright's 3rd grade students have truly assembled a historical (and dare I say… adorable) publication to honor the heritage of the Eanes Pioneer Child. I want to thank her for inspiring us all and raising the bar on what students can create on the iPad and assembling such an authentic learning treasure and digital delight.

Learning Enhanced by Technology. Good teaching today requires educators to adapt to the evolving technologies of the day. It is most exciting to see this done in today's classrooms and when it is done right it is most exciting because the children benefit more than one would think. This iBook is a fantastic example of how interactive, hands-on learning can take school children to the next level. Here they learn by reading, acting, singing, writing, story telling, managing, sharing and even dancing and in the background there is the technology that helps them pull it all together and give their project life. Kudos to Ms. Wright and her 3rd grade class in Austin, TX. Keep up the good work!

Texas Pioneer Life 21st Century style!. What a great way to preserve a rich tradition celebrated at Eanes Elementary and have it captured by Ms. Wright and her 3rd gade class in this iBook. And to be able to not only read about it, but see and hear about it in the videos, is amazing! Children and adults will get a glimpse in the life of a pioneer child during the settling of the Eanes community in Texas through these current day 3rd graders writings, photos and videos. History and technology coming together to teach and entertain!

An excellent example of educational technology. As an Educational Technologist, I spend my days trying to instill in teachers the philosophy that technology integration in the classroom starts with the curriculum and not with the tool. Laura and her students have created a book that is a fine example of how technology can deepen the curriculum when it is infused properly. At the same time, she has given her students an invaluable lesson on the power of sharing your work with the world.

Setting a new standard!. We know a few other schools that have their own "pioneer day" - but WOW! this book really sets a new standard! What an incredible feat: not only did the kids get to learn about life as a pioneer and get a feel for its joys and its hardships but they also got to document their experience by taking their own photos, shooting their own videos, and creating their own music. What an incredible, multi-faceted learning experience! The resulting I-book is something they will treasure.

A superb blend of solid teaching & technology, sprinkled with youth :). A perfect example of highlighting each child in varying capacities and then being orchestrated by a plugged-in teacher. Not just models, the kids wrote music, essays and provided acting sequences. The book is informative, well crafted and a very useful reference to any student, worldwide, wanting to explore these American times. If I had this level of production work to galvanize my history studies - I may have had a different career path! History is fUn … with an iPAD !!! Congratulations to Ms Wright & the Eanes School District for a peak into how you educate children.

Pioneers in West Austin. Great book created by children about the life of a Eanes pioneer.

Truly a gift.... The third grade students in Mrs. Wright's class have gone to great lengths to showcase a time period which influenced our modern day ways of day to day living. The multimedia components of this project are incredible, and the depth of information is amazing. She and her students have demonstrated a spectacular display of historical information in a modern day format. The innovation of this creation is astounding. It's a must read and download type of book!
