The Fiery Spirit by David Bergsland Book Summary

A mission outpost to rescue artists

When Chozen Frozen Gallery in Stillwater, Minnesota, was first opened to the public in December, Charlie and Hildah had been talking with Haley and Malcolm about what was coming. They had two specific words of prophecy and knowledge. The Lord told them that there would be outposts in Red Wing and Northfield which would build off the legacy of the Hauge evangelistic movement within the Norwegian Lutheran church. The Red Wing Seminary in the late 1800s had been a Hauge Synod work teaching lay people to share the Gospel with people in their daily lives.

The outposts would be started when they were contacted by descendants of those evangelists. That would give them the entrance they would use to establish the outpost. They were to make non-specific preparations, getting people ready to help with an unspecified new work. So, they did that, keeping their hands off until the Lord started the process.

Of course, that was an excellent idea, because when it started, they were truly surprised. It was really fun, because in many ways this was a very different vision. One that would work for Red Wing, Minnesota. As usual, the Lord puts together a family of several couples to do the work. The Kingdom is built on marriages of two solid believers ready to do whatever He leads them to do.

Beginning from that baseline, the Lord works marvels—wondrous things. I mean, Jesus is the Creator. He knows how to do it well. He knows how to take care of His people. The strangely unbelievable is commonplace in the Kingdom of God. It's who He is. He can't help himself.

The Lord is witty and funny with His people who know Him well. But don't tell anyone—that might spoil the fun. Walking in the Spirit, in close relationship with our Messiah is an amazing life. These things are rarely taught because, without holiness, the soul and flesh ruin it.

The Lord develops a work in Northfield

The growth into Northfield: Minnesota comes with major surprises

This new series is a sharp departure from the earlier works in this epic tale. This time the Lord is planning to change things religiously, educationally, and even politically. He's making waves on behalf of the descendants of some of his children who were treated badly a century ago or more.

It starts with a new gallery. But this gallery is much smaller because Northfield was built around two world-class colleges, not business. It is very prosperous, but controlled by academic needs. Downtown Northfield is a small worldly delight of beautiful old buildings in a nicely developed area next to the Cannon River. But it's missing something essential at its core.

St. Olaf College was where Red Wing Seminary was finally put to rest by the larger world of Norwegian American Lutherans. This happened after Luther Seminary digested it theologically up in St. Paul. But that was all done by the religious systems of the world.

The Lord plans to do something about what He sees as a serious problem. But no one knows that. There's just a general recognition by the new gallery that their walk in the Lord is an outgrowth of what Hans Nielsen Hauge began within the Norwegian State Lutheran Church in 1796. The way it comes about is yet another revelation of the creativity and love of our Lord and King. The way, the truth, and the life cannot be contained. It's a delight.
