Hagakure II by Yamamoto Tsunetomo Book Summary
Das Hagakure (»Hinter den Blättern«) ist eine Sammlung von über tausend überwiegend kurzen Lektionen aus dem frühen 18. Jahrhundert. Sein Verfasser Yamamoto Tsunetomo (1659-1719) war zunächst Samurai und trat nach dem Tod seines Fürsten, da ihm die rituelle Selbsttötung (seppuku) untersagt war, in den Mönchsstand ein. Der Einfluss des Zen-Buddhismus ist in Formulierungen wie dem »täglichen Sterben« erkennbar.
Aus Anlass des 25-jährigen Verlagsbestehens, das ohne den anfänglichen Erfolg der ersten deutschen Hagakure-Ausgabe nicht denkbar gewesen wäre, legen wir hier vergriffene Texte jener Piper-Ausgabe neu auf, die als Hagakure II auf dem Markt war, sowie Ausschnitte aus dem Hardcover des Angkor Verlages. Im zweiten Teil finden sich neu übertragene Weisheiten weiterer Samurai wie Yamaga Soko, im Anhang einige Gesundheitstipps aus der damaligen Zeit.
