Heavenly Blessings by Melissa Rossi Book Summary

The new imperial city has been deposed, leaving the Crown Prince Concubine Tran Loan and her husband Ky Tieu in a cold prison. Tran Loan, born in Tran Quoc Cong's palace, is the only daughter of the Crown Prince and is married to him. However, her younger sister, Tran Dien, has become a phoenix and lives in a non-royal position. Ky Tieu, a retired reserve army officer, is imprisoned and reveals his ashen face. Tran Loan, a widow, is unable to protect her husband and wife from the consequences of past scandals. She blames herself for the situation and feels bitter about her life. The final outcome, whether good or bad, is left to Tran Loan to bear. The story highlights the struggles and sacrifices faced by those who have been enslaved by the past. Tran Loan, a pampered young lady, wakes up in the Eastern Palace after a long night of cold and pain. She remembers her past, including being beheaded and being confined to a dungeon. Two maids serve her medicine and food, and she returns to her small yard. After a few sunny days, Tran Loan is advised to stay in the palace, as the Emperor still remembers her old love for her. Xao Van suggests that she take advantage of the opportunity to stay in the palace. Tran Loan wakes up on the 26th, and she learns that her husband, Ky Tieu, has died. She wonders if her cold lips and teeth will make her end better.
