Interesting historical medical drama. This was fabulous! I love it when a book leaves you with that tight emotional feeling in the back of your throat. There was a lot of mystery in this one, as someone sets out to totally sabotage Trevor's career and makes threats against him. I loved how Kate and Trevor have such a good working relationship and how driven he was to fight TB. The only thing I didn't like was Kate's stubbornness. But I loved how the stray dog was the humble messenger that taught her to see things in a more far-seeing manner. And the epilogue was a perfect place to leave the story.

Amazing. I love all of Elizabeth Camden's books, but this is by far my favorite. Her books have everything you could possibly want; romance, history, intrigue, well developed characters, and a great Christian message. Can't wait for her next book!

Interesting history. I like gleaning a little history while reading a story. I enjoyed pulling away the layers of Trevor and guessing at the mysteries.

Page Turner. I read this novel nonstop as it is a page turner from start to finish! It puts love, trust, compassion, passion, ethical reasoning, among other virtues under the microscope! Amazing and thought provoking on many levels.

Her best book yet!. By far the best book by Elizabeth Camden so far, this book is a joy to read! It's an interesting journey into the difficult and terrible, seemingly unconquerable search for a cure for tuberculosis at the end of the 19th century. It was a major killer in big cities at that time and patients had at best a 10% chance of a cure if they were rich enough to hightail it to a sanatorium high up in the Alps. Dr Trevor McDonough is a doctor on a mission to find a cure and is a pioneer in his field of research with brings with it both heartache and risk but he is determined not to stop until he finds a cure. When he opens a tuberculosis ward with his new ideas he invites Kate, his old rival from school days to join him and work with him to tally the stats on how well his treatment ideas are working on his patients. I loved every bit of this book, from the work at the hospital, to Kate's family at the boardinghouse, to the changes in Trevor throughout the book, and the banter back and forth between him and Kate keeps things from getting too dark and gloomy even with the heavy topic of tuberculosis. I appreciate that although Trevor comes out of his shell somewhat, he doesn't become an entirely different person, but that Kate begins to be able to understand him better. Neither of them are perfect by the end of the book. The romance is sweet, but it is not the entire, overwhelming focus of the book. It happens very naturally. It's a clean, sweet historical romance that I had difficulty putting down and didn't want to end. It's the best book I've read this year so far.
