Hold Me by Susan Mallery Book Summary

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery's classic blend of lighthearted humor and intense emotional conflict works its magic on two newcomers to the California town of Fool's Gold, which Library Journal calls "a setting so real and appealing readers will want to start scoping out real estate."

Destiny Mills believes passion has its place—like in the lyrics of the country songs that made her parents famous. After a childhood full of drama and heartache, she wants a life that's calm. Safe. Everything that Kipling Gilmore isn't. Her temporary assignment with the Fool's Gold search and rescue team puts her in delicious proximity to the former world-class skier every day. Part of her aches to let go for once…the rest is terrified what'll happen if she does.

Though an accident ended his career, Kipling still lives for thrills—and a hot fling with a gorgeous redhead like Destiny would be a welcome diversion. Yet beneath his new coworker's cool facade is a woman who needs more than he's ever given. With her, he's ready to take the risk. But love, like skiing, is all about trust—and before you soar, you have to be willing to fall.

Look for Best of My Love, the next title in Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series.

Destiny & Kipling's. Another beautiful Fool's Gold story. I related to Destiny's character & found myself drawn into her & Kipling's relationship more so than some of the other FG couples. I rooted for them to succeed. I love how Susan Mallery builds the relationship & has them overcome issues- no couple is perfect & that is what I like so much about these books. And they are just plain fun to read- quirky townsfolk, vivid scenery, & fantastic festival- Fool's Gold is the place to be!

Hold me!!. Another great book by Susan Mallery! Her Fools gold series is my favorite!

Love Fool's Gold. I was so excited to read the next installment in Fool's Gold, and it did not disappoint. Destiny and Kipling are both new to Fool's Gold. They both want a sense of belonging to friends and family. Kipling is such a HERO in more than one way. They find love when least expected. There is a perfect blend of humor and family drama to make every reader wanting more. It was great to catch up with the rest residents of Fool's Gold. I love this series. I highly recommend visiting Fool's Gold.

Another Great Fool's Gold Story. I am a big fan of Susan's Fool's Gold series and this one did not disappoint. I loved the way that Kipling and Destiny learn to grow with each other. Destiny learning how to overcome her past feelings so that she could help her step sister learn that she is loved was really great. I really liked how even though Kipling wasn't looking for love or a family he was able to open his heart to both Destiny and Starr. He was able to show Destiny that she did not have to hide who she really was to be happy in life. It is another great story.

Love!!. I love Fool's Gold AND country music so this is the perfect book for me. Love this series!

Fools Gold. I love the fools Gold Series and always enjoy them. But this one got me. It was tugging on my heart strings. It was more emotional than the others. They were hurting from childhood issues effecting their decision for the future. Greg read I loved it.

Another great read!!. Love this series. Another great story. They all make me smile!

Hold me!!. Susan Mallery does it again and brings you right in to Fools Gold. She is an amazing author that pulls you right into the characters and then allows you to never fully loose track of the characters in past books. Destiny is "running" from her natural talents and her feelings. She is trying to go through life without strong feeling and then Kipling comes into her life. Any of these books can be read as stand alone, but I would recommend going back and reading all of the Fools Gold series.

Susan Mallery never disappoints!!. Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series is such a fantastic series. Hold Me's characters are so personable and real life. The story is written in such a way that it puts you in the book, in the city, and sitting next to the characters. Great book Susan!! Can't wait until the next book in the series.

One of my favorite series!. Everyone who knows me knows I'm a HUGE Susan Mallery fan! So Imagine my delight (And SQUEE!!) when I received an ARC for review. I couldn't wait to sit down and read the newest installation in the Fool's Gold series. Since I got this so early, now it's going to feel like FOREVER until the next book. But that's a whine for another day. ;) I don't usually tell what the book is about, because you can read the blurb or other reviews to know what the premise is. I will tell you I LOVED it!! It's funny, heartwarming and just FUN! I laughed, I cried and got all those warm mushy feelings Susan's books always bring out in me. I loved seeing some of my favorite characters from past books (Felicia--still one of my favorites to this day!) and returning to the town we'd all love to live in. I loved reading about Destiny's relationship with her sister and how their parents impacted the way they both turned out. I loved--after having 50 Shades thrust down everyone's throat (no pun intended)--the book focused on the relationships, the characters and their own inner struggles. The Smexy times took a while to get to... but I loved Kipling's-- "Now, that's an orgasm."-- Oh, yeah!! Read, love, enjoy and yes, whine with me 'til the next one gets here.

Welcome back to Fools Gold. I really enjoyed the beginning of Hold Me, and my apologies for using a completely overused cliche - Kipling and Destiny have a witty repartee from the very beginning. Kipling is very comfortable in his own skin, and Destiny's outlook on life and love, albeit a bit screwed up, sets the stage for some fun interactions between Kipling and Destiny throughout the book. Both of them have strong feelings about relationships, influenced strongly by their childhoods, but in both cases they have taken it too far. What may initially seem as divergent relationship goals and personalities are actually very similar. From the very beginning, I loved how Destiny intrigues Kipling and he makes no apologies for his interest in her, albeit only in a "serial monogamy" kind of way. He sees her temporary residency as perfect to meet his goals. Destiny has an innocence about her that is really quite endearing. Her background has left her both "wise to the ways of the world" and "innocent to the realities of love and emotion." Her views on life and love are really quite mixed up, and perfect for Kipling, who is a fixer. He doesn't even realize he's doing it half the time, but his interest in Destiny is partly due to his need to fix what he sees needs fixing. Destiny sees her views as protecting herself from what she saw as an lonely childhood. Everything she does in life is about what she believes is protecting herself from being emotionally hurt, up to and including her desire for a "sexless marriage". In true "Fools Gold" fashion, the strong women in town influence the happenings, and I laughed as we see Kipling's partners in the "Man Cave" succumb to their wives desires with regards to the bar. I could literally see in my mind each of them looking sheepish as they explain the hold their wives had over them. And Kipling's completely baffled by this reaction. The gaggle of women that meet at Jo's bar were so welcoming to Destiny and Starr, and even Shelby (Kipling's sister), it makes me want to join them for a margarita-filled lunch one day! Hold Me is a great return to Fools Gold for 2015!

Another great triumph for Susan's Fool's Gold series!. Destiny and Kipling's story was very touching! Your heart goes out to how they work to survive and prosper. Destiny had so much to overcome from her family's background that she tried to deny her own musical ability for fear of the spotlight! She and her half sister had to learn to become a family of their own. Her sister had her own issues with being abandoned and neglected by her father. Kipling has to overcome the disappointment in his life that he could no longer compete at the professional level. How they came together and came to terms with their own demons is a story not to be missed! A trip back to Fool's Gold is a chance to catch up with old friends and always leaves me anxiously waiting for the next book!

Not quite as sweet as the rest but still good!. *sigh* Another fabulous visit to Fool's Gold! This book is about Destiny Mills and Kipling Gilmore. This trip to Fool's Gold seemed a little different than previous trips. The story line centered more around Destiny, Kipling and their sisters and not quite so much interaction with the town. We did see old friends and of course Mayor Marsha but they were more in the background than usual, which was fine and didn't detract from the story at all. Destiny reminded me a little of Felicia. Not in the super genius way but in the, just-the-facts and no real word world experience, kind of way. She's been put through a lot growing up with famous parents who paid more attention to themselves than their children. Thank God for Grandma Nell! I'm so happy that Kipling found someone to cure his serial monogamist ways. Their adventure, starting out as friends and going from there, has a few rough patches but the journeys eye-opening for both of them. This is a little less sweet than normal romance, with tons of self-discovery, in our favorite little town of Fool's Gold. It's always sad to leave and I can't wait to come back again! Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Hold Me is a Winner!. Susan Mallery is a winner every time! I love the town of Fools Gold! Destiny and Kipling are a perfect match and I love seeing returning characters build relationships with and accepting the new arrivals to Fools Gold!

Hold Me. Loved being back in Fool's Gold. Really great story, interesting career. Love story not only romance but family love.

Fool's Gold Again!. Susan Mallery's Hold Me is another visit to Fool's Gold, one of my favorite destinations! I enjoyed the development of the main characters - Destiny, daughter of country music royalty and providing assistance in developing the Search and Rescue team and Kipling, former world class and Olympic skier and lead in developing the Search and Rescue team. Their ill-perceived convictions on love, sex, taking action and speaking the words is fun to watch slowly fall apart. I also enjoyed hearing from other characters from Susan's previous novels. It is always so much fun to visit Fools Gold!

Another Fools Gold Winner. Another Fools Gold winner!! It was so much fun to read Destiny and Kipling's story. Fools Gold isn't home of origin for either and they seem so different but seem to be very well suited to each other. I so enjoy the story lines and characters from other books continuing throughout the series; although, each book stands alone perfectly. I anxiously await the next book!

More Please!!. Susan Mallery has done it again! It's so great to be back in Fools Gold. Kipling and Destinys story is fun, tearful and all around a great read. I love hearing about familiar names and adding a few new residents Can you picture Taryn and Destiny in Mommy and Me classes together? It would be hysterical. Whether you are a vicarious resident of Fools Gold or this is your first visit, I know you will enjoy this story.

Hold Me. Once again Susan Mallery does not disappoint. I enjoy Kipling and Destiny's love story. Each odd their pasts are different. Destiny"s parents were famous country stars and Kipling was a famous athlete, Olympic Gold Medal skier. Their jobs bring them together. Destiny's half sister, Starr comes to live with her and they don't k ow each other. Kipling is always there for Destiny. Their chemistry connects for each and try denying it. It is such a wonderful love story and I love all the characters past and new. I could not put the book down. Looking to Fool's Gold Kiss Me and Thrill Me. Looking forward to next book.
