Should not be listed as romance. There was not one drop of romance in the entire book. I’m sitting here bewildered at what I spent the last few days reading.

Disappointed. I like this author but this short piece has too many character, too many crimes, and too much mental agonizing. I found myself skipping stuff to get finished.

Great Start. This is a quick interesting story that introduces the Wild Wynchesters, six orphans adopted by Baron Vanderbean, Bean to the siblings, who become problem solvers and champions of the underprivileged. Each of the siblings has a special skill that is put to use to solve these and other problems. In this prequel, the siblings have two challenges, exposing a horribly run school for girls and retrieving a special painting stolen from the family by a disreputable duke. When Bean becomes ill (I warn you, you will need a tissue), Chloe steps in as leader of the group. Will the Wynchesters succeed in rescuing the girls from the cruel Miss Spranklin’s school? Will they be able to convince either of the dukes to return the painting? I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

The Governess Gambit. I really loved this book. Your introduced to the family of Bean Wynchester. It lets you look inside this wonderful adopted family and see how they are set out to help other people, like they were helped themselves. You’ll feel all the emotions they felt. Can’t wait to read the series.

The Governess Gambit. NOT A ROMANCE! This is a suspense/drama/mystery book. Don’t know why it is listed as a romance. It’s about a family that took on shutting down a school for girls that is actually more of a workhouse. It is a decent story but you will be disappointed if you think you are going to get romance in the story.

Not a romance. I generally enjoy every Erica Ridley book I’ve read (which is a lot of them). But while I didn’t not enjoy this own, I was disappointed it wasn’t a romance. It’s a well developed novella that gives a lot of background for chloe who is apparently the heroine in book 1 of this series which is romance.

4 stars. Fun!

Left me wanting more. I was unprepared for this book, it is emotional, adventurous and wonderful to read. I was left wanting more and found it all in The Duke Heist. Brilliant writing.

This is a teaser to the next novel. The summary doesn’t say that there is no romance at all …it is just a lead in…arrggghhh

The Governess Gambit pays off.. A fun hook into the Wild Winchesters, an ingenious family.

Family is what you make it. This is the perfect prequel to The Duke Heist (which I read as an ARC before I read this). The Wynchester family and the strong connection they have for and with each other is easy to see in this story. They work, grieve and assist each other in their own unique ways. The reader finds out some background knowledge about the incidents that form the basis of the next story. Chloe emerges as the ‘leader’ of the siblings. The family’s compassion for orphans and those in need, is what drives this novella.

A whole lot of great good fun. I’m not sure what to call this story other than a whole lot of great good fun. I love any type of heist story where a “good” bad guy gets away with pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes and the true villain is brought to justice. I’m sure it comes from an early childhood love of everything Robin Hood. And the Wynchesters are very much of the ilk of the hero of Sherwood Forest; taking on the entitled to give back to the downtrodden and forgotten. This story pulled me in from the beginning and the stage is set for the next book to the point that I want to start reading it immediately. There are a couple of questions that I’m rather desperate to know the answers to. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
