When Bernd Heinrich decided to write a memoir of his ultramarathon running experience he realized that the preparation for the race was as important, if not more so, than the race itself. New favorite author. I'm not a runner....but somehow heinrich makes hearing about his training very compelling. He works in evolution, physiology, and biology in ways you wouldn't expect....the "fuels" he experiments with during running are fantastic.
