Beginning to end. Love this book. Shana is obnoxious in the beginning however that is exactly how she is suppose to be. Raised as an only child in wealth; she is self centered, but as the book goes oh she begins to learn more about caring for others and finding a little grit.

Wonderful Romance. I have been reading her books since I was 15yrs old. You could always be in a different space and time with her books! It is very hard to create a situation with a book and feel that you are there. I am 56 now and have not been able to find such an author. There are 4 or 5 out that come close to her writing, starting with Lindsay Sands. I have no problem with re-reading Ms. Woodiwiss’s books time after time. I hope she is resting after all the writing she has done, looking down on us and smiling, knowing she has taken romance readers around the word, to that special place in time, loving and living.

Shanna. Very boring

Shanna. This is one of the best books I have ever read. Once you begin reading, you will find it difficult to put down this book. I loved all Kathleen's books, but this one is the best.

Great story, bad editing. Like the story, Woodiwiss is a guilty pressure for when I'm stressed. Wolf & the Dove is still my fave, this is a strong 2nd Publistons needs to fix the tons of typos and many sentences which aren't completed with a period. (I'm not referring to the local dialect, btw.) very distracting and cheapens the quality of the book, makes it feel like a cheap knock off instead of an honored classic. Took a star off for the editing.

Shanna. This book has it all. I absolutely love it!!! It was so hard to put down. I only wish there could have been a sequel. Just not ready to leave Shanna and Ruark!

Shanna’s Mom. I read this book for the first time when I was in high school. I’m 55 now and named my beautiful daughter, Shanna. I love the name and fell in love with the character in the book. I’ve read it a dozen times and it never gets old

My Name.... I have yet to read the book, which I will do someday. But I just had to say it: I was named after this book. My mom read it while she was pregnant with me and loved it so that's why my name is Shanna. Just so interesting to me...

Shanna. I love Kathleen Woodiwiss and love this book. The typos and missing punctuation were a serious distraction for me. There were even numerous times there should have been an ! but it was shown as an l or 1. These seem like obvious things that should have been caught by even the most careless proofreader. That is the only reason this didn't get five stars from me.

Shanna,. This is an awesome book I’ve read it three or four times and given it to many other people to read it. More often than not I don’t read romance novels because I’m a man. But my wife gave me this book 10 years ago and I was so enthralled by the description and narrative of the beauty of the island and then especially when they come to America. Excellent book. I recommend it highly.

Amazing book.... I love this book. My mother read it and passed it on to my sister who then passed it on to me. This book will always be one of my favorites.

Serious typo issues. Missing periods everywhere! And i just finished a section that was entered into the story twice. Very unhappy with the quality versus the price.

3 cheers for cut off breeches!. As a child I remember my grandmother, aunt and mother reading Mrs.Woodiwiss. Even though her books are decades old they still hold the test of time. She knows how to write a hero. Loved this book!

Ugh. As much as i loved and still love “The Flame and the Flower”, the dialogue and romance between Shanna and Beauchamp were hard to fathom. I felt like the author just tried to write something different and it failed miserably.

Terrible. Shanna is a spoiled, annoying brat! This book was hard to get through due to getting so annoyed with the main characters whining throughout the whole story. Don’t waste your time or money unless you enjoy weak, whiny little brats as the lead heroine!

Amazing !. One of my most favorite books out there ! Read it over 10 times ! Gets better each time.... Ruark is pretty much every women's dream and one can only imagine the beauty of shanna! She describes everything in amazing detail, even the dresses. Imagination just goes wild! This Book is def worth the buy.

Love this book!. I have read this book over and over! Love it! Great detail in the characters and I never want it to end!

Love it!!. Kathleen Woodiwiss had a talent for making every one of heroines characters unique. Shanna is no exception. She is spoiled and capricious but is fortunate to find a man that learns to love her despite all her faults. I've read this book about four times and can't get bored with the beautiful location and the well developed characters.

Typos!. I've never seen so many typos in my life. At times it was difficult to grasp the meaning of the book. At the least it distracted greatly from the story. Harper Collins should do better than this.

EPIC. I'm not a fan of Love Stories. They bore me. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! The characters are clear in my mind as I read it. The premise of the story is original and unique. So, if like me you don't like love stories... READ THIS ONE! It's one of my all time favorite books now!

Great story, extremely poor editing. I've never seen so many mistakes in a book. Missing punctuation (I cannot even count how many sentences ended without a period. Difficult to know when one sentence ends and one begins), misspelled words, and incorrect words (i.e., "rain" used when they obviously meant to use the word "ran") on just about every page. It was terribly distracting.

If you start it - finish it. I almost gave up on this story halfway through. Shanna is a most frustrating character. But after part 2, characters start to change and the ending soothed all my frustrations. Worth the read.
