Invigorating read!. New to a job, and company, I am required now to go to weekly meetings where a "Regional management team" meet to discuss our groups' successes and shortcomings. The Regional Operating Officer was giving out copies of this book to all of the local Executive Directors, and told them they had to have it read in 5 weeks, but this was only 1/3 of the regional team. This was instantly deflating, and made me feel very inadequate. As if I wasn't good enough to benefit from any new information that could be very educational. So I went ahead and bought my own copy. I started reading this book right away. Having had no experiences previously with "self help" books, I thought I would have my usual habit occur as it always has with any other type of read. Spend 5 minutes reading, then wake up the next morning not knowing how I had fallen asleep with my book in my lap. This book was amazing!!! I not only dove into this book immediately enthusiastic, but tore through it in only 4 days! I already have ideas about my first GTY project, and if you haven't guessed it by now, it is going to be my Regional Operating Officer, to show him how significant this information can be to everyone on his direct team. I even have plans to share it with my step-daughter to help her become a stronger person in the face of her self-doubts. I feel I can learn as much, if not more from her than most other people I know. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, even if they are highly successful personally and professionally. An easy read that keeps you engaged and will have you thinking long after you've turned the last page.

Greater Than Yourself. Once again Steve Farber writes a book I can't put down and within the first few chapters I have a list of people that I what to read it - including my own leadership team. Greater Than Yourself challenges every person who has influence over organizational culture (whether it be business, school, church, sports leagues, families, etc.) to consider a better way to accomplish goals, retain talent, and like being there. The applications are only limited by one's willingness to consider the condition of another person and do something about it. What's gift!
