Paradigm Shift. I just finished reading through this book a second time. At some point, a light went off in my head. This stuff just makes sense. I was brought up in a southern gospel, yes sir, no ma'am, spare the rod and spoil the child home. And although, like many of us, my Christian parents were doing the best they knew how to raise me, I obeyed them and did the "right" things out of fear of punishment. In "Loving Our Kids on Purpose," Pastor Danny lays out the love of God for us -- a love that honors and empowers, not polices and punishes. A love that teaches us to make choices and live freely. It is exactly what we want for our children. He gives several practical tips for communicating with your kids, and handling some of the more challenging interactions. I have just started to implement some of these concepts with my own son. Before that, however, I let the Holy Spirit deal with my own issues with God directly. I needed to get a better understanding of His love for me before I could extend that kind of true, fierce, faithful love to anyone else. This book is a complete paradigm shift in parenting. But the central concept is as old as God and has been right under our noses our whole lives. Read this book, then read it again.

We are newly married and don't have children yet and I'm so glad I found this before we start a family because the principles in this book can be applied to any relationship. Definitely am talking a lot about this to friends and family and encouraging everyone to read it!

Best parenting book ever. I’m so thankful I’ve read this book!! This is the way to do it!! I’ve been doing it all wrong :/ but better late than never . This makes sense to me heart. God is about the heart. And I love that!!

Goldmine. I feel like I have stumbled upon a gold mine of wisdom. My first couple years as a dad I tried to control my daughter even though I love her and try to be Jesus in the flesh. Now I realize how far from the way Abba father wants us to live and teach our children to love that style of parenting was. I am striving to teach my kids to live in freedom, give them true choices, and control my own behavior by the power of the Spirit of Jesus in me. Thanks Danny!

Breaking the bonds handed down from generations. The abusive environment I grew in, that I vowed not to carry began to show in my parenting. Not the physical abuse but the punishment mindset. The yelling and fight for control. What I swore I wouldn’t do, I began to do and poured that out over my children. I’m so grateful for this book. Not only do I get to break the bonds of what was handed down to me, but I get to bring my relationship with my children into alignment with the truth of Christ. I get enjoy connecting with my children and watch them handle with care every choice they get to make and learn from. I can’t count how many times I’ve recommended this book, even bought and mailed out to women who have reached out to me over social media because they want to know how a single mother of four is able to love her children into Christlikeness. Loving your kids on purpose!. For someone who was raised in total dysfunction this book seems to be almost too good to be true! That a parent could have a relationship with their child and that a child could be responsible for their choices is a foreign concept for me! While it is too late for my relationship with my parents it isn't for those coming behind so it has been my great pleasure to pass on Danny Silk's book to my nieces and nephews who are raising their kids! Thank you Danny, this book bought healing in so many areas of my life!
