No More Mr. Nice Guy Book Summary

Originally published as an e-book that became a controversial media phenomenon, No More Mr. Nice Guy landed its author, a certified marriage and family therapist, on The O'Reilly Factor and the Rush Limbaugh radio show. Dr. Robert Glover has dubbed the "Nice Guy Syndrome," trying too hard to please others while neglecting one's own needs, thus causing unhappiness and resentfulness. It's no wonder that unfulfilled Nice Guys lash out in frustration at their loved ones, claims Dr. Glover. He explains how they can stop seeking approval and start getting what they want in life, by presenting the information and tools to help them ensure their needs are met, to express their emotions, to have a satisfying sex life, to embrace their masculinity and form meaningful relationships with other men, and to live up to their creative potential.

No More Mr. Nice Guy - Robert A. Glover Reviews

  • To my fellow men...

    By Ex Nice guy
By far the best investment for myself (Read this in 2 broken days and could've been sooner). A MUST READ for those men seeking answers to questions we don't fully understand about ourselves. This book spoke to me! Def making contact with the author to thank him for making this life changing experience possible.
  • Worth a read but has one big hole

I found this an interesting read with several things that seem very helpful. The one thing I find disturbing is the apparent lack of moral compass. The entire basis of the book's philosophy seems to be whether the actions taken will get you what you want.
  • No More Mr. Nice Guy: Learning how to be an Assertive Man Instead of Being a Passive-Aggressive Wimp

    By Recovering Nice Guy
When I first saw the title of the book I mistakenly thought this was a book on how to be a jerk in life and getting the life you want by controlling others like your significant other. I first heard about this book through the "The Art of Manliness" website and I read positive reviews from readers who were once Nice Guys recovering from the Nice-Guy syndrome as Dr. Robert Glover calls. I decided to buy the e-book myself and once I read through the first chapter I related myself to some of the men who were going through a crisis in their lives because they were trying to seek approval from others and when they didn't get what they wanted they feel 'down in the dumps' 'stuck in a rut' 'useless' 'worthless' 'abandoned' you name it. These were the type of men who were doormats who helped others to seek approval from them and when they don't get approval they feel bad or they feel they've done something wrong. Dr. Glover breaks it down on what Nice Guys are doing wrong in their lives from relationships, to jobs, to health, to living to their full potential, etc. Even better, he lays out specific, concrete things a man can do to get over his Nice-Guy syndrome. When I finished reading this book I decided to read through it again and it has helped improved my life. I believe this a great book for men who feel like being pushed around in life and not setting boundaries to live a fulfilling life. But if things are going pretty well for you in life, then this book is not for you. If you're that type of guy who wants to become assertive and never settle for less then buy this book and while you're at it go to "The Art of Manliness" website and learn more about becoming a gentleman.

  • A Manosphere Classic

80% of this book is chock full of solid manosphere advice that you can use right away to unlearn your beta male or "unhappy alpha male" conditioning and embrace the XY chromosome that you are. Parents, teachers, society, and environment taught you the wrong stuff about being a man or gave you mixed messages at best. This book should be required reading in schools.

  • You want a book that speaks to about you? This is it

This is a profoundly amazing read, particularly if you're a man. It was as if every single point of my childhood and adult life was captured and focused in to stark relief. It's worth two reads, and can change your life.
  • Inspirational & Informational

I just finished reading this book and as I was reading it I found myself saying "that's me right there" seeking approval of not only women but also of men, is a weakness of mine that originated during my upbringing. As I was reading this book I realized the importance of having boundaries, asking for help, developing intimate relationships with my male friends, having a male mentor, pursing your goals, and forgiving my parents for what they weren't able to supply to me when I was growing up. This book doesn't teach you how to be a jerk, it teaches you how to have self-respect and by having self-respect others will respect and admire you for who you truly are and that my friend is what will make you successful in life.
