This is my new favorite of the series.. If you are new to the Maiden Lane series, I think you'll be ok reading this one first. Jump in the water is more than fine!!!! Then do your little ole self a favor and read them in order. I love that this series grew beyond "the Ghost of St. Giles". All the books were mysterious and a little tragic while giving us hope and HEA's. They are each a treasure unto themselves. Montgomery is fabulously flawed and possibly redeemable with just the right woman. Every bit as good a character as Charming Mickey from Scandalous Desires. Bridget is so sturdy and good, but funny and ready to take a little of her own when it comes her way. There wasn't anything I didn't love about this book. It has mystery, tragedy, humor sensuality, and lots of surprises I didn't see coming. Elizabeth Hoyt is one of those authors that just amazes me with small touches that give all her stories depth. If you love well a written historical romance, that is gloriously typo free and utterly enthralling, read this book and the series.

Another great installment. Loved Duke of Sin. The male protagonist was so awful-- kudos to Hoyt for making him so lovable in the end. Can't wait for more from this author!

He. Is. Hilarious.. Valentine, the Duke of Montgomery is a raging narcissist/murderous & interfering psychopath, his house filled from top to bottom, inside & out, with nude paintings & statues of himself as a Greek god. He seems irredeemable, --blackmailing, murdering, toying with people right & left. Although he adores his half-sister, he’s utterly tone-deaf around her & the very few people he does tolerate. He falls, falls hard, for Mrs. Crumb, his plump, sensible housekeeper, who has greying hair and isn’t as pretty as he is. He’s a total nutcase, but hilarious. I love the scenes where Val tries to learn more about Mrs Crumb’s interests & she waxes enthusiastically about all aspects of housekeeping. Lots of adventure, with some much creepier, darker characters & scenarios than Valentine & his schemes, which pale in comparison. I despise sociopaths in real life, but this is fiction and I enjoyed the hero & unusual heroine, and the positve supporting characters. Definitely a reread.

Childish girly Man. I enjoyed the read but it was a bit too over the top with the foolish banter from Val. He came across as a big child and Bridget had to play the parent role. Of all the books this was my least favorite. I immediately re-read book 9 but not feeling like that with this one. Too much foolishness. Looking forward to book 11. Looks like it's going to be all about Alf...

Valentine is A Looonnn. He’s Crazyyyy!!! And for some reason I could not hate him🤦🏽‍♀️😂 Bridget was Awesome💯 I thoroughly enjoy this one💙

A dark, twisted and romantic read. This was truly an amazing read. The author really had to go to another place to create such two unique characters. You have Val, who's past has warped and shaped him into a dark, but not cruel man. And Bridget, who can see him for who he use to be and could be. Yes, there are some dark subjects mentioned but nothing detailed. It's a complex read and I like that the author really pushed herself to go there.

A steamy, emotionally charged regency romance. Elizabeth Hoyt shelves out some of her best writing yet in the Duke of Sin. I loved Val- his extravagance, his grey morality, his past that plays so much into his personality. Bridget is smart, resourceful with a fiery personality and ultimately, Val’s conscience. The chemistry between the protagonists is off the charts and the emotionally charged scenes between the two is the perfect build up to the steam. A must read if you are into regency romance. Steam level:4/5 Romance: 5/5
