Blood Orchid. Author Toby Neal's Blood Orchid is a breath of fresh air. The characters are intriguing as is the plot. Great read.

Blood Orchids. How did Toby Neal get all this into one novel? This author has got something really going on here, and this is the first I have read of her work. Definitely NOT the last. Blood Orchids is packed to bursting with the crimes, the police procedural, the suspense, and the extremely full and complicated personalities of the main character, not-quite-detective Lei Texeira, and her police colleagues, but of the character of place, as well. An excellent read, full of mind pictures, feelings, a little romance, a lot of goodies, and a heck of a good story.

Like it. The names can be confusing though, like what kind of a last name is “Watanabe” anyway.

Impressive. I love a good police novel where it's not just one story or multiple stories that don't blend. Love the Hawaiian lingo. It gave the authenticity of old Hawaiian families. Very good read indeed!

Excellent Read. This book really kept my attention. It kept me guessing and trying to rule out killers. About then, it all changed. I loved the twists and turns. Then, I had to read until it was finished!i hope the rest of the series are as good!

Blood Orchids. Was really looking forward to reading this novel!....but geeesh! I can't get through the first chapter! Hope if I ever need a cop, it won't be her. And how did she EVER pass a driving test when every few minutes she blacks out! Hope there's a better middle and ending, because this book really needs it! A rating of one star because I couldn't submit without a rating! Sorry!

Lei Crime Series: Blood Orchid book one. Throughly enjoyed every facet that was etched into this excellent crime thriller. A job well done! Every level each character was expertly portrayed with precision that made you feel different emotions ripple throughout yourself as the story unfolded. KSW

Good. If Patricia Cornwell wrote about a tough lady cop in Hawaii, this is what she would come up with. It kept my interest, the writing was descriptive and I even learned a few things about Hawaii. Great for a free book!

Full Five Stars!!. This is definitely the best book I've read in a long time! Everything in the book is there for a reason and adds up to make the captivating story. The characters are real and endearing. They develop, just like real people aren't static stereotypes. Brilliant job to the author.

Blood Orchids. I have just finished reading Blood Orchids a second time, and I like it even more than the first! The first reading had me racing through to get Lei out of the book alive! Between her ptsd from an abusive childhood and her present day danger from a serial rapist and killer, Lei struggles just to do her job and survive. This time I got to appreciate the incredible environment of Hawaii, the musing inside the killer’s mind, and Lei’s raw courage against terrifying attackers. And her dog is as brave as she is! Left me wanting more! Granny Mary
