Heart Wrenchingly Beautiful. Nicole Williams I don’t even know where to start. This story is one that will make your heart break for more than one reason. It’s one that will make you think twice when you walk outside, but overall it will make your heart break into a million pieces, but slowly the pieces are picked back up then gently put back together. Thank you Nicole for writing such a heart wrenching story. Jade Childs does what any girl in suburban America would do. She helps a lost stranger out, but little does she know that stranger takes away ten years of her life. Torrin Costigan is the boy next door, and when his best friend/girlfriend vanishes, he does everything in his power to find her. Collared is a story of the loss of ten years of your life, but more importantly, it’s about love that never gives up. The love that Torrin displays for Jade is pure and true. Collared is heartbreaking, but the curve ball thrown in at 23% will rock you to the core. I didn’t see that coming, but it truly shows that when you’ve given your heart to someone what level you’re really willing to go. If you’re looking for a book that will play with your emotions, and make you think about how precious life truly is then Collared is for you. The words of Torrin will forever be with me… “Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

Great emotional read!!. I loved this story. Jade is such a strong character, she has to overcome so much to get her life back. Ten years is a long time to be missing from the world you knew. Torrin, her boyfriend never gave up hope but he's changed too over the past ten years. You feel their struggles to find a new normal for them as well as jade and her family. Great emotional read!! This was my first story by Nicole, I am definitely a fan now!!

One of my favorite reads of 2016. Nicole Williams, Collared is one of my favorite 2016 reads. This book will stay with you long after you have finished reading. Have you ever watched a news report about an abducted child escaping/becoming free years or decades later? Have you ever wondered what that must be like for them? How they could ever possibly hope to reclaim their lives and rejoin society? Collared deals with those exact questions. Jade is abducted when she is 17. Her two, family, boyfriend and friends are rocked by this and search tirelessly for her. As time goes on, those less close to her start to move on with their lives. As the years go by, even her close family seems to have given up hope, but Torrin, her boyfriend, never gives up the hope she will return one day. When she is found and turns home, the real heartache begins. How can she moved past everything she has been through. How can she accept the love Torrin still feels for her? Can she even return it anymore after everything has been through and the way she has changed all these years? This book was amazing. It was thought provoking and yes, it is dark because of the subject matter being dealt with, but the message of trying, failing and continue to try was so powerful. "Try again. Fail again. Fail Better." Collared was one of the very best things I have read this year, or in recent memory. It has a place on my favorites shelf and I can not recommend it enough.

Amazing story of Perseverance. This was an unexpected story of love, dedication, strength, and selflessness. The story skips over the darkest times with brief flash backs to show why the characters developed in a certain way, so the book is not too dark. There were several twists in the plot that I never saw coming! This is a must read story.

Amazing & Surprising. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. I have never never been so surprised by a book. I melted, laughed and cried. The amazing that is this book is undeniable. Tough issues and an amazing plot. It didn't end the way I expected either. I hope there's another book for Jade and Torrin.

A must read. You will not want to pass this one by.. If you read the prologue to this story then you are already familiar with the premise. Jade was taken at seventeen. Jade has been missing for ten years. This is Jade's story about how she is coping in her new life. This is about Jade trying to acclimate back into society. Jade is uncertain about her ability to adjust back into what you call a normal life. Jade struggles with the transition into her old self. Jade was a strong character. She was a survivor. She was brave. Jade learned to overcome many obstacles in her life by being found. The story focused on Jade after being found ten years later. The story concentrated on how Jade rebuilt the life she lost with Torrin. This is Jade's battle at survival. Jade survived the life while being held captive, but the true battle was overcoming the tether that continued to bind her. Torrin was the boy next door. Torrin and Jade began dating at fifteen and at seventeen they were making promises of a someday together. Torrin never gave up hope at finding Jade. Metaphorically the concept of creating a new future can be tabled in many scenarios not just in the case of a kidnapping. People all the time get lost along the way in life and need new perspective and guidance. Jade had to process her life by taking steps. One step at a time Jade had to acclimate to her old life while blending a new life into the old. Nicole chilled me with words and thrilled me with her words. Nicole's story had a unique angle layered into the return of Jade. The way Nicole blended Torrin's life into Jade's was simply magnificent. Nicole wrote an amazing story that wormed itself in my mind. It's a story that will be embedded in my soul. Don't you wish you knew ahead of time there was an amazing book to read but you had no idea you were missing out on this book? Well I'm here to warn you that you don't want to miss reading this story. This is a story worth investing your time in. Nicole took great effort choosing her words wisely. I was drawn in and unable to unlock my mind from feeling every emotion. Nicole gave me chills, brought forth tears, had me laughing, and had me aching. I'd say Nicole outdid herself in a wonderful way by writing this spiritual story about Jade's journey and reclaiming herself in a big scary world.

Collared. This is a book that touched my heart and left me feeling slightly drained. The loss, love and most of all the devotion in this book is almost overwhelming at times. This is a look into the mind and heart of a child-woman that has been broken. Jade and everybody that loves her is unsure and scared about how to reacclimate to the world after she has been missing for many years. Her teenage love Torrin is still there for her but he can't be there they the way both of them long for, her disappearance and living his life without her has changed him. Those changes and her struggles dealing with the aftermath of what happened stand in the way of them carrying on with a relationship. This story is well written and full of a range of emotions. I enjoyed this sad yet uplifting tale and felt connected to Jade.

Emotional and beautiful. OMG I was so not prepared for the emotions and feels that this book would evoke. I was a blubbering mess for 80% of this novel. I was literally trying to read through my tears but it was so worth the heartache. I would give this book 6 stars if I could, it is definitely one of my top reads so far this year. I only wish that I would have gotten more of Torrin's story while Jade was away. I am also dying to know more of Jade and Torrin's story; I am hoping there might be a second book to complete their story. I am also wondering how this is the first book by Ms. Williams that I have read. Her writing is amazing and I cannot wait to read more from her.

Tragically Beautiful!!. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am honestly blown away by this book!! Nicole Williams possesses a rare gift of writing amazing characters and a true talent in telling their stories. She writes characters you can relate to, you can be friends with and you could potentially be. Their stories a raw, real and leave you wanting more. In COLLARED we meet Jade and Torrin. On what should be one of the happiest days of Jades life, the unthinkable happens. At 17 years old Jade disappears. Torrin, the boy who loves her never gives up hope and never stops looking for her. 10 years later Jade comes home. Torrin has moved on the only way he knew how. Can their love survive? Can they still be friends? Torrin is doing his best to help Jade but not everyone is convinced he is actually helping her. Can he help her adjust to her new normal or will he push her further into the darkness? This book is tragically beautiful and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! Nicole Williams has done a wonderful job developing the story and characters. I laughed at times and cried at others. Two thumbs up for COLLARED!!

Amazing story!. I loved this book! This story broke my heart and put it back together. Jade is such an amazing character with her strength and I loved watching her change throughout the book. The things she went through were horrible but to see how she powered through her fears was inspiring. This was definitely a book that was worth reading. I just couldn't put it down. I love Nicole's work but even this blew me away by just how much of an amazing writer she is. I highly recommend reading this but have some tissues handy.

Heart-Wrenching, Sad, and Beautiful. This book was so wonderfully heart-wrenching, sad, and beautiful. I truly loved Torrin and Jade’s story. When I first started reading the book, Torrin and Jade were young and in love, their love was so sweet and innocent and then it gets torn away from them. I spent most of the rest of the book hoping they would be able to love each other again like they did in the beginning of their story but I was hesitant and suspected that Jade might use it as a band-aid to cover her broken pieces. Jade was such emotionally wrought heroine. She was strong but she was also so broken by her experiences. After spending ten years captive, with a broken, sad man she finally comes back home but she’s so irrevocably changed it’s nearly impossible for her to regain any sense of normality. While Jade has her family close, she can’t seem to connect with them in a way that’s healthy for all of them, they seem to cautious and too eager for the Jade of years past. She’s finds solace in the boy she loved before she was taken, but Jade and Torrin have so many new obstacles before them and their love was so young when she was taken, it’s hard to believe that Torrin can truly help her and that Jade isn’t hurting Torrin more by leaning on him. Torrin, first off, I loved his name. He was wonderful. He was the driving force behind Jade being found so it made me love him before I’d even truly met him and once I got to know him a bit in the book I knew he was totally deserving of my adoration. He was so understanding with Jade and helped her by just being Torrin with her. He didn’t try and force her into her old life, he tried to help her as much as he could without pushing her further than she could handle. He anchored her, at a time when she needed it more than she needed anything else. I don’t know that there are any cons I have for this book. I thought we would spend more time with Jade while she was held captive but we really only got to see that few times and the flashbacks we had were mild. There wasn’t anything extremely dark about this story. This book was so worth the read. It was sad and beautiful and wonderfully written.

Powerful and Emotional. Collared is a powerful story. It opens with a touching scene of young love, but before the night is over the unthinkable happens and Jade is transported into a nightmare existence. "I know the whole point of bending is to get someone to their breaking point because once they’re broken, a person can build them back however they want." After Jade is recovered she struggles to adjust to a normal life when she doesn't feel normal. The gap caused by the changes in herself and the world that went on without her seem unbridgeable. “Everyone needs protection from me. There’s something dark in me now, Torrin, and I can’t get it out. It’s growing, spreading, and I don’t want it to infect the people I love.” The contradictions of Jade's struggles were difficult to read about but so human and real. Her refusal to seek help had me shaking my fist at her while wanting to alternately comfort her and yell at her. “That’s how you look at me. Like I’m your what’s not there. I’m what fills that hollow spot.”

Brilliant. Wow, what a roller coaster of emotions. Nicole has yet again produced a well written and unique story, that will tug at your heartstrings, and consume you from the first page. It's never a good idea to begin reading one of her books at night because you will not get any sleep until the last page is read. Collared is,as expected, another fantastic 5 star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Collared. Wow what an incredible book .. Truly amazing . Jade and Torrin are a young teenage couple in love, A tragic event tears them apart and 10 years go by in which Torrin never gives up on Jade and visa versa . Jade is an incredibly strong girl who endures 10 years of torment but never forgets the boy she loves . Torrin was one of the strongest, caring , loving character i have ever read about . he never gave up on Jade . There are a couple of twists in the story-line , which make the story amazing and shows that this is a great love story . The story is written beautifully. Loved it and am hoping for a follow up ... Thanks Nicole for this amazing book .
