Charles Martin NEVER disappoints. I believe that at 67, I am too old to stay up all night to read and finish a book. That is, however, exactly what happens when I encounter Charles Martin's new books! Long Way Gone is no exception. Charles leads this reader into that extraordinary juxtaposition of fiction wrapped so tightly in truth, that it exposes my heart to love's deepest reality. Charles's ability to share, through fiction, the depth of Gods's love for each of us is unparalleled. His writing is not formulaic. Each of the 12 books I've read is unique in style and always surprising to me. I eagerly await his next book.

Finds kindred notes in my soul. Spoke to me. Giving myself grace is hard. But necessary. This book played those reminders. Thank you, Charles! One day I will get my story written…

Long Way Gone. This is one of those books that is hard to understand, but you can’t quit reading. It catches you up into the story. The ending is outstanding! Will probably read again.

The Best. I am a prolific reader. Novels are what I read to relax. And this novel may very well be the best I've ever read. It will resonate with you long after you finish reading the last page.

Never disappoints the reader. I loved this book and the storyline pulled on alot of heat strings. Definitely loved the aspect of the way he weaved God through out the novel. A MUST read for anyone

LONG. WAY. GONE. LONG WAY GONE by Charles Martin. Beautiful story, of the reimagining of the prodigal son of the Bible. Cooper at 18, wants to be rid of his straight laced father. Yet, takes his father's beloved guitar and sets out to make a name for him self. Then when life and music hit the bottom for him, he returns to Colorado, to find answers. The description grabs you from the beginning, the guitar with tape now, the fingers move across the strings. You realize the fingers hadn't lost the music. As he belts out the songs and crowds gather, they wonder who this man is, a drunk, or somebody. Given ARC by Thomas Nelson for my voluntary review and my honest opinion I have given.
