The Baby Project by Miranda Liasson Book Summary

Liz Kingston spends her life delivering babies and longs for one of her own. All she needs is someone with fabulous genetic material. Who better to ask than her sexy ex-fling, who has no interest in ever settling down or being a father.

International correspondent Grant Wilbanks loves danger and travelling the world. But nothing in all this Brit’s experience could have prepared him for the way a torrid affair with Liz makes him feel. When she asks for his assistance, he figures he can help her out with a simple donation. No strings, no emotions, just…test-tube science.

But this simple favor gives them both more than they ever bargained for. Grant agrees to her terms, but stepping away gets harder and harder because the more time they spend together, the more he finds himself falling…and losing the battle to safeguard his heart.

Each book in the Kingston Family series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.

Beautifully written!. Having read hundreds of books over the years this is the first book that I can remember reading twice in a matter of days because I wanted to savor this beautifully written story and experience the emotional connection between these two characters again and again. Liz is an ob/gyn who is surrounded by babies but fears she'll never have a child of her own because her picture perfect marriage ended in divorce and being a workaholic keeps her too busy to examine her lonely life. Grant is a British foreign correspondent who prefers his vagabond life traveling the globe to get the story because facts aren't messy and his emotions don't come in to play. When Liz and Grant slow down long enough to savor life, these two lonely characters realize that the journey is all about love and their feelings for each other have the power to change everything. I read a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

The Baby Project by Miranda Liasson. ARC for honest review with no compensation from Net Galley… The Baby Project by Miranda Liasson is an awesome read with lots of depth, flaws, old hurts and feelings that grow even when you least expect them….. Liz Kingston is returning to her hometown after spending a year with Doctors Without Borders after finding her fiancé with another woman right before her wedding. She is an OB doctor and is joining a practice with her best friend from college, Brett and another woman. While in Africa she meets Grant Wilbanks and they spend time together and when they are heading back to the States, they plan to take another trip together to deepen their relationship except Grant doesn’t show….. A year later, Grant Wilbanks, a world famous photojournalist returns to North Carolina after a debacle in Kenya and has to lay low for a while and as punishment he has to do a documentary on small town America and how it’s slowing becoming less but this town is the direct opposite. He knows that Liz is in the town and hasn’t forgotten about her or what happened when he didn’t show up for their week-long trip… With Liz’s two sisters pregnant and her clock is ticking she also has a medical condition that will make it even harder to get pregnant herself so she decides to go IVF but is not happy with the gene pool and when Grant shows up again she realized that he might be the perfect person to give her what she wants….a baby. Now she has to convince him to help her but not do it the old fashion way… Will Liz open up with family about all that has happened that they are not aware, will Grant man up or do the deed and run or can Liz and Grant find their HEA???

Wonderful Love Story!!. I loved Miranda Liasson's new book, it's full of love and heart that sticks with you even after you have finished. Miranda picks the most unique subjects to write about and gives it life within the pages of her books. Liz wants to have a baby before it's too late, but a failed marriage and a disease that could prevent her from getting pregnant the old fashion way is looming in the future. Grant has come to Buckleberry Bend to do a story on small town American dying out as he was sidelined for smuggling a family over the Kenyan border. He is a foreign correspondent who loves danger along with a British accent makes one hot guy. Liz and Grant had an affair when she was abroad with Doctors Without Borders, but Liz left empty handed and alone once more. Her faith in the opposite sex broken by another man so she wasn't looking for a relationship, just a sperm donor for her baby. However, sparks fly when they met again and things don't go as planned. I loved how Liz and Grant relationship heats up and decisions must be made that affects both of their lives. This is a must read love story with such a great storyline that you will fall in love with the characters. Your heart will be broken on some parts, but a HEA awaits you. I highly recommend this book and any others of Miranda's books. Series: The Kingston Family Series - can be read as a standalone. Characters: Strong, independent male and strong self-determined women who both have to heal from past wounds. Writing: Smooth and developed. Storyline: Wanting a family and a second chance on love. Heat: Burning 5 Koala Paws

Second, third chance romance. Liz and Grant meet in Nairobi, Africa. Liz is there nursing the hurt of a failed marriage, while working with Doctors Without Borders. While Grant is pursuing a Pulitzer. Liz and Grant fall into bed, but when the time comes to leave Africa Liz is left boarding the train alone and heartbroken. Liz returns home to join her friend Brett in an OB practice. Liz devotes everything she has to work, not allowing time for thoughts of Grant to come into play. With her sisters and sister-in-law pregnant, she also distances herself from her family. She's truly happy for her family, but she's always longed to be a mom. With no men in the picture, Liz decides to do IVF. She just needs a donor.... After getting into trouble with the African government, Grant is sent to "Podunkville" until things blow over. He chooses to go to the only place he felt loved, his Aunt's. It also happens to be where Liz lives. He's never gotten over Liz and hopes to apologize and make things right. He never imagined Liz would ask for a no-strings donation.... What starts out as a no-strings request, quickly has so many "strings" it's hard to untangle them all. You have Grant who has worthiness and abandonment issues. Liz is a lonely workaholic with trust issues. Although I really enjoyed this novel, I wanted to kick Grant in the rear in the beginning of the novel. He whined "forever" about how he wasn't good enough for Liz or to be anyone's daddy. The struggles with infertility, trust issues due a cheating ex, a failed marriage, and abandonment are all life issues one can easily relate to. Gizmo was awesome too! I read a gifted copy, but also purchased one. All opinions stated are my own.

Yes!. The sweet, emotional story of Liz and Grant. A HEA is what Liz has always wanted. She put her past behind her, with her cheating ex, explored the world but came home to settle down. And what she wanted most was to be a mom. Too bad she hadn’t found anyone to be her partner. She was strong, independent and ready to do it on her own. Then, who shows up but the one she couldn’t quite forget. Grant, the international reporter she had a fling with in Africa and never quite let go. Small towns...the magic they have. With both of them living in such close accommodations, it was inevitable. What transpires is true love, not without some heartache thrown in, along with some quirky family, a stubborn dog and a special friendship, all playing a part. Love this sweet story and so excited to continue reading this author.

The Baby Project. Easy reading, enjoyable book.

Awesome. Super fun, heartwarming story! I love this author's writing style. She does a fantastic job introducing us to her characters and grabbing our attention and hearts immediately. In this story we OB doc Liz Kingston who has returned to her hometown to practice after traveling with Doctors Without Borders for several years. She's decided now is the time for her to settle down and have a baby of her own. Too bad she doesn't have any daddy prospects! Deciding to go the in vitro route all she has to decide is who the sperm donor will be. Who better than the deliciously delightful Grant Wilbanks. Being an international correspondent he lives the no strings no attachments lifestyle perfectly. But is that what he will want in the end??? Don't miss this one, it's fantastic! I highly recommend it.
