Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney Book Summary

ALICE FEENEYS NEW YORK TIMES AND INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

“Boldly plotted, tightly knotted—a provocative true-or-false thriller that deepens and darkens to its ink-black finale. Marvelous.” —AJ Finn, author of The Woman in the Window

My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:
1. I’m in a coma.
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
3. Sometimes I lie.

Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

not what you think. this was a good book. enjoyed it from beginning to end but it definitely kept surprising me as i kept reading. ending with have you shook

slightly confused but good. very exciting but the end left me a little confused.

Alice Feeney Adds Humor to Her Mystery. “Sometimes I Lie” is sharp, complex, suspenseful and funny. Did you get that last part? Funny! How often do we get humor as sharp as a knife sinking into a belly laugh in our mysteries? We get everything we want in Alice’s latest book (exceptin’ Alice). Don’t pass this one up if you’re headed to the beach and you’re sure you can spend a little time with a book. I’m a fan, now. I’m going to look for whatever else she wrote. Promise. You’ll like it, even if it does make you scratch your head a few times.

Enjoyable. I really enjoyed this book. As a psychological thriller I think it did it’s job. It keeps you guessing but hit you with a twist you’d didn’t expect.

Sometimes I Lie. Best read this year, so far. A dark tale of some messed up families, told largely from a perspective of a woman in a coma. There are unexpected twists and the story that unfolds ... remember the first time you read Gone Girl and thinking it was unusual? I had a similar experience reading this, knowing I hadn’t read anything like it before and I would be reading it again. I’m not even certain I find any of the characters likable, but I really like the way this tale spins. I’ll tell you what I told my reading friends: This is the next book you should read.

Sometimes I Lie. A wonderful thriller with lots of unexpected twists. Love it!

A little underwhelming. I didn’t find this book to be well written. Seemed like the author was trying to do too much and didn’t really sell the plot. Characters weren’t believable. I was not sold on their thoughts and dialogue. It was okay but not worth the read. I was hoping I’d like it more since it had been recommended by many. Just not my book.

Amazing. Best book I’ve read in a while. I can’t put it down.

Terrible. Nothing to even compare with Gone Girl. I don’t even know how this got published. There is no attempt to make the story plausible.

confusing and not cohesive. the timeline shifts were confusing and the plot holes annoying. ending up skimming chapters just to get through it

She lies. I loved this book. I was fortunate to get an ARC. I couldn’t put it down. What happened to her? Why would her husband do that to her? So many questions. It keeps you guessing until the end.

Best thriller I have read in a long time. I loved this book! I could not put in down. Finished it in one day. So many twists right to the end.

It was good!. I really enjoyed this book! Loved the twists--especially the one at the very end! I went in expecting more and while I didn't get that, I still think the plot was fresh and crazy original. Will definitely try another book by this author!

Great book. I really enjoyed this book. It never got boring

She never misses. I enjoyed this, although I’ll say I kinda liked the work storyline more than the others! Alice Feeney never misses, but I’m not surprised this was her debut. I think she’s definitely gotten better since then. I wasn’t terribly shocked by the ending, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Keeps you reading until the end. A page turner. The book bounces between present, the time leading up to the main character’s coma, & childhood. So good! I couldn’t stop reading - lots of unexpected twists & turns. Right up until the end!

Sometimes I Lie. Very confusing , strange book. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Good. Good book, confusing plot at times. I did not like the way it ended.

Oh my, YES. Good read! I’m still thinking about it, trying to wrap my head around it. Sometimes I lie, too, but this ain’t one of those times.

Never again. This was truly a good book for awhile. I will never waste another weekend with one of her books again.

Sometimes I lie. Well written. I love “ first books” when they are critically acclaimed. Usually turns out to be great. This is one of them!

Interesting. This book started off lil slow and confusing but it got really interesting and crazy pretty quick. Definitely a good read.

Interesting. One of the most interesting books I’ve read in a while.

😮 then 😴 then 😳 then 🤔then 😠. ^^^ that sums it up LOL. Started great & intense, then was very boring & redundant, then a few surprising twists, only to be majorly let down. If only my time could be refunded!

Thrilling. Caught my attention from the very beginning. So many twists. I loved it. Found myself saying “WHAT?!?” a lot.

GREAT. Amazing. Twist around every corner. Couldn’t put it down and can’t wait for more. Loved it.

Still trying to completely understand.... Great, great book. More twists than Gone Girl for sure, but that reader will love this book!

BEST BOOK EVER. This is definitely one of my favorite books! It is so captivating, and the twists!! I could never have guessed what was coming. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone that I know!!

Couldn’t put it down. Whoa. This book has twists and turns you will never see coming. I loved it from start to finish!

I’m confused. It was a good book but by the end I had no idea what actually happened and not in a good way. I brought it up in a book group and everyone else who read it said the same thing.

Twists and more twists. Such a fun read. A unique premise with twists and turns aplenty. Suspenseful, surprising, and satisfying.

Amazing!. Such a page turner, couldn’t put it down. So many twists and turns!

Intense. Way more intense than I expected!

Hard to be happy for terrible people. In the end, spoiler, the ‘winner’ has murdered people, stolen children and ruined others lives. Hard to feel good or very satisfied with that.

Amazing. This books gives me sooo much feelings!! The suspense is EVERYTHING

Dark, confusing. One of the most depressing books I’ve read. I’m not sure I understand the story once all is vaguely revealed, nor do I care. Glad to be done.
