Romancing the Bride by Melissa Jagears Book Summary

Marrying a stranger to save a ranch is one thing; losing the land on their wedding day is another.

Desperate to keep the ranch where three of her children and a husband lie buried, Annie Gephart must marry or sell. Which of the few bachelors in town would consider a surprise proposal to wed a plain widow with a rebellious daughter, a spirited boy, and unpaid taxes—without laughing in her face?

Jacob Hendrix has never fully let go of his ranching dreams despite ending up as a small Wyoming town’s marshal. The job wouldn’t be so bad, except he’s more errand boy than lawman. When Annie proposes marriage without a single coquettish bat of an eyelash, can he commit himself to a woman he hardly knows for a choice piece of property he’d be an idiot to pass up?

But taxes aren’t all that threaten Annie and Jacob’s plans. Cattle rustlers, crumbling friendships, and wayward children make this marriage of convenience anything but. When they lose what they’ve sacrificed everything to save, will the love of a stranger be enough?

Romancing the Bride is the first book in the Frontier Vows Series by award-winning Christian romance author Melissa Jagears. If you like heartwarming marriage-of-convenience stories, you’ll love this sweet romance filled with endearing characters.

Romancing the Bride. Romancing the Bride starts off the exciting new series by Melissa Jagears, Frontier Vows. I instantly fell in love with the main character, Annie. She has been through so much heartache. I loved it when Jacob entered the scenes. Such sweetness. Romancing the Bride gets a well deserved five plus stars from me. I would give it one hundred if I could. I highly, highly recommend it. Great job, Melissa! I look forward to book two from the Frontier Vows series. I received this book from the author. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Great Book!!. I had a hard time getting through the first chapter (which might be because I was already in the middle of another book at the time). Once I picked it back up and started reading again I almost read half the book before setting it down. I have read several other books by Melissa Jagears and loved them. I was not disappointed with this one. I would highly recommend this book.

A new favorite!. Romancing the Bride, the first book in the Frontier Vows series by Melissa Jagears, is a delightful historical fiction novel. Incorporating its own unique twist on the mail-order-bride saga, this book is engaging and unexpected. It only took a few paragraphs for me to know that I would thoroughly enjoy this novel. At all times, this book successfully balances history, romance, faith, and even a bit of mystery, making the story thoroughly readable and entertaining.    The characters in this novel are wonderfully endearing and well-developed. They are authentic and multifaceted, and their fears, hopes, desires, convictions, and choices make them heart-warming and relatable. Even though the characters struggle through real trials that test their faith, the light of God’s grace and mercy shines through with hope, forgiveness, and restoration. These enduring themes of grace and second chances are integral to the story and are also deeply inspiring. Romancing the Bride is a meaningful novel of renewed hope and second chances. It is a story of faith, trust, and new beginnings. It is a story of love, forgiveness, and redemption. From the first page to the last, this well-written novel is a pleasure to read. It is honest, tender, emotionally stirring, and ultimately uplifting. I recommend it wholeheartedly. *I was given a copy of this book by the author. A review was not required. The review I have written contains opinions that are entirely my own.

Love this author. I have yet to read one of Melissa’s books that I didn’t like—and this one was no exception. I love that she tackles topics that are not usually covered in other Christian Fiction and she does it well.

Another Great Book from a Favorite Author.. I own and love all of Melissa Jagears books !! She has such a fun, refreshing style of writing and makes her characters so real and fun. I was so excited to read this first book in her newest series and I absolutely loved it!! Marriage of convenience stories are among my favorite type of books and this one was great 😁

Good Read. I love a marriage of convenience story and this one was different. It dealt with grief differently. I enjoyed the different perspectives. I did feel the ending was rushed but overall, I enjoyed this read.

Emotionally Real. I enjoyed this book. I like the multilayered characters and events of the story. I like the realistic love that grows between the main characters as they embark on their marriage of convenience. The story explores loss, grief, and the desperate measures a family goes through while adjusting to change and moving forward. Mysteries, criminals avoiding capture, and friends that become enemies contribute to more obstacles for the characters to overcome. I like that all the story elements come full circle to a satisfying ending of forgiveness, self discovery, and moving forward toward better tomorrows. I would definitely like to read more in this series.

I love a marriage of convenience story and Romancing the Bride didn’t disappoint.. Romancing the Bride by Melissa Jagears is well-written. Annie needs someone to save the ranch her late husband and she worked so hard to build and a father figure for her children. Jacob dreamed of owing a ranch and doesn’t mind the built-in family Annie offers. This story has it all; cattle rustlers, corrupt politicians, angsty teenagers, quirky townspeople, and intrigue. I enjoyed following Jacob and Annie as they navigate their marriage, the children, and the struggles that they encounter. They are realistically written and their struggles sincere. Annie lacked confidence in herself, and Jacob was just the man to see her worth and encourage her, if she’ll let him. The story started a little slow but by the end, I had trouble putting it down because I was rooting for them to fall in love. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Heartwarming western romance. I started reading this book without knowing anything about it. The beginning caught my interest right away. Annie, was in a predicament after her husband had died and she was left to run the ranch and raise their two remaining children. When the foreman, the last of her help, quit, she felt lost lol. She came to the conclusion that she either had to sell or find a husband. Her decision made for a fun and intriguing story. The ups and downs, twists and turns made for an exciting and entertaining read. There were a few slow parts, here and there, but for the most part it was very compelling. I would read the rest of the series.

Wonderful Christian Western. Romancing the Bride by Melissa Jagears A widow and a Sheriff make a very unlikely duo, but throw in a rebellious teenager and cattle rustlers and you’ve got quite a story. Wonderful, Christian western about healing and trusting God through everything. Can’t wait to read the next in the series. I was sent a copy for my honest review. Thank you for allowing me to read it.

Best Book of the Year. Melissa Jagears never disappoints me when I read her books. When I saw the cover and the book was a marriage of convenience, I was so happy. One of the best marriage of convenience books I’ve read!! If your a fan of these books this is the book for you. You’ll love this book and the blessing you’ll receive. I receive a complimentary copy and all opinions are my own.

Love this series. The characters and stories in this series are wonderful. My only complaint is I couldn’t put them down to get other things done. Can’t wait to read more from this series.

Wonderful historical fiction. I greatly enjoyed this book! The depth of feelings and trials that Annie & Jacob go through, as well as their triumphs as they learn to lean on each other & God, make them realistic & relatable. Their story is well-written & drew me in from the very beginning. I’m looking forward to reading the next books in the series!

Wonderful Romance!. Melissa Jagears’ Romancing the Bride is an extremely enjoyable version of the marriage of convenience story. Annie proposes to Jacob out of desperation. She just wanted to save the land that she and her first husband ranched before his untimely death and keep the home that her children knew. Jacob is an honorable man and a swoony hero. As with other marriage of convenience stories, Jacob and Annie are not in love when they marry. Jacob soon learns that he wants to woo his wife and make her fully his. Add to this some unsavory goings-on in town and an unruly teenage daughter and you have a precious story of overcoming obstacles on the way to real love. Melissa Jagears is a master at presenting deep spiritual lessons through the characters that are an integral part of the story and are not overly preachy. She has done this beautifully in Romancing the Bride with reflections on forgiveness, healing, and trusting God to work out situations according to His design. If you like to have your heart stirred while reading, I highly recommend this book. Will your heart be stirred by the sweet kisses shared between Jacob and Annie? Or will your heart be stirred in a different way by the loving God who comforts our sorrows and forgives us to bring us to himself? Either way, this book is a winner!

Great Book. Great book, very believable how Anne struggles with loving another after a loss of a spouse. Also could relate to the grief Anne experienced with infant loss. Excited to read other books in this series

Excellent Read!. I greatly enjoyed this story by Melissa Jagears. Not only does it have an excellent story line, but it also has an excellent message for readers to learn from! I would highly recommend this book.

Enjoyed it!. My heart hurt for Jacob, Annie and her two children when heartbreaking news came immediately after their wedding. The struggles they go through are very real but don’t get overly depressing. Jacob and Annie were so thoroughly likable and I rooted for their relationship to grow and blossom. Spencer’s eternal optimism was so adorable I wanted to reach through the pages and give him a big hug. This is another well-written and well-edited book from Melissa Jagears. I received a copy of this ebook from the author. This review is my own opinion.

Tugs at Your Heartstrings. Romantic. Suspenseful, Intriguing. Surprising. Inspirational. Those are just a few of the words that describe Romancing the Bride, by Melissa Jagears. It never fails. Whenever I read one of this author's works, I plan to read a few chapters and end up reading up to the last page. This is mainly due to how she flawlessly weaves inspiration, intrigue and the unexpected into her historical romance stories. She does so in such a way that you connect with the characters, feel what they feel, and makes the story completely tug at your heartstrings. Be assured that Romancing the Bride does just that. My heart went out to Annie Gephart and her situation. She had been through so much loss and difficulty and it seemed she could not catch a break. When Jacob Hendrix steps into the picture, all seems like it may work out, until it doesn't due to more surprises that come their way. Through it all, as Annie and Jacob navigate their new life with it's challenges, their faith is always at the forefront, guiding them, not to where they think they should be, but to where God leads. Annie and Jacob's story is touching, romantic and inspirational. Along with the surprises and intrigue, there are many words of encouragement and inspiration that even had me reflecting on my own life. This beautiful story is not one to be missed, and I highly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this book by the author. All comments and opinions are strictly my own.

Sweet Christian romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the relationship between Annie and Jacob. This quick and easy read is perfect for fans of Janette Oke’s Love Comes Softly series.

Captivating. Overall this was a good book. The was mystery, romance, danger, sorrow, deception, and much more. There were one or two times where it seemed a little long and I wanted the plot to speed up but the majority of the book captivated my attention and I wanted to keep reading. (I received a free copy to review, however, all opinions are my own.)

One of my favorites. I LOVE this one, I’ve already read it twice and it’s definitely on my read again list!
