The last thing Ben Shepherd wanted was another war. But sometimes the universe won’t take no for an answer.

With its last gasp, the wounded alien injects Shepherd with a high-tech serum that gives him near superhuman powers.
Now, with a new body but a soul as fractured as ever, Shepherd becomes the reluctant leader of the human resistance against the coming invasion. With enemies on all sides, the man who couldn’t bear the guilt of seeing one more friend die in battle now finds himself charged with protecting the entire planet.

Hope there’s a second book!. I loaded this book on a whim, and glad I did. It had a good story line, character backstops, and non-stop action.

The First Protectors. A disturbing novel about the first contact between Earthling and Alien. But,these aren’t friendly ET’s-far from it. The style of writing reminds me of other writers yet has the disturbing influence of modern day politics and religious turmoil we know today.Going to be awhile before I sleep easy after reading this!
Decent Alien Invasion story.. Good action scenes, reasonable plot, well realised characters . Too many authors of this type get overtly political but fortunately this story avoided polemics and kept focused on the story. A bit obvious in parts and some minor plot holes but a decent read.
Page turner. Fast paced and thoroughly entertaining.
