Hornby Decides His Fans Want to Read his Politics. I have Loved Nick Hornby since High Fidelity and aniously awaited this book. I didn’t finish it. Nick Hornby can’t get through a book without taking a dig at Margaret Thatcher, but in this one the book uses a bad plot, really bad dialogue, and some characters that are clever without being smart to endlessy beat the reader with his views on Brexit and Donald Trump. Dismal effort, and this Hornby fan is done with this writer.
Clever, yes.... Clever, maybe a little too clever for its own good. On the other hand, it’s Hornby and so the dialogue is guaranteed great.
