Three days. That was all the reprieve we got before one of the Five showed up, injured and on the run. The snowstorm that had encased the property, as well as stifled the town, hadn’t even melted away.
That wounded prey led our newest adversary directly to me, to Christopher. Inconvenient timing, but not unexpected.
It was the betrayal forcing me to stay my hand against that adversary that shocked me. Betrayal from the least likely of sources. Or so I would have thought.
But that didn’t change who I was, and what I would do to preserve a life I loved, people I cherished.
I wasn’t so easily broken. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t be hurt, couldn’t be pulled apart. Unraveled.
And if I managed to put the pieces back together? I wasn’t certain who I’d be on the other side of it all. Friend? Lover? Killer? Emma or Amp5?

Superb World Building. This is the third book of this series that I have read. It was just as good as the others except now, the author has amped up the romance and family aspect she’s been building up to. She’s also made the heroine just a little more ‘human’, which was well done of her! I enjoyed all aspects of this book. I recommend this entire series and this author’s other books/series as well.
This world-building!!. I have read all of the author’s books and I am constantly in awe of the imagination path she has. The incredible becomes credible to the point that you actually (well, I do 😜) start looking around to see if there are characters like Emma, Christopher, Paisley, and Aiden hidden somewhere in your neighborhood. The story is so engaging and the character growth is so good to see (because I hate it when main characters act the same throughout a series). These books are never boring and stand miles above others in the genre. Well done MCD, again! The challenge you face now is surpassing yourself... I have no doubt you will.
