It was okay.... I bought this book because I’d heard positive things of the author and the social movements she’s been at the forefront of (e.g saggy boobs matter). I didn’t HATE the book - but I didn’t love it. I didn’t really enjoy the writing style, but then I did find some of the scenarios with toxic relationships (whether romantic or platonic) very relatable. I liked the affirmations and have actually written these out for myself, but as far as self-help goes I feel like I could have got the majority of this information online. I think my critique would be for the author to consider both sides of some situations - for example regarding the risk of getting trapped in an abusive situation when relying on your partner financially. I would have liked to see this gone into in more detail. In parts it felt very one-track as if it wasn’t inviting the reader to indulge in any kind of real introspection, it was as if it was only to find fault with the other person. As someone who has experienced very similar kinds of relationships as the author (a toxic relationship with a boyfriend, a soul-sucking ‘best’ friend, and an emotionally abusive parent) I know that although I’ve had terrible experiences with these people, I can’t say I’m blameless and not in need of some self-development. It’s not put me off reading anything else by the author, given we are the same age I look forward to see what she does next, but unfortunately this book didn’t really sit well with me.

Amazing. I recommend this to absolutely everyone. Don’t even focus on the book title. Sure it helps you get over a boy, but it also does SO much more than that. It educates you on patriotism, on things that I as a feminist didn’t even realise was misogyny even though it was right in front of me. This book is extremely empowering and encourages every woman to be her best self and implores others to do the same. This book is exactly what needs to lead our generation. It comes from a place of purity that more and more people need to follow. I’ve read this twice, and next time I feel low and need to be empowered I’ll read it again. I cannot recommend it enough. No matter what age or gender, open your eyes and educate yourself to a conversation that needs to be had. Beautiful!!

Amazing. One of the things I have always struggled with is letting people go. And this book has just given me a whole new perspective on it and I feel like this has been my CLOSURE. I love how this book focuses on LOVING OURSELVES and it doesn’t really give much focus on boys. I love the Slumflowers mind when it comes to men and she has definitely taught me so many lessons in the years. A must read for every female - if you are getting over a boy or not!
