4 Stars!. 4 Stars! Aww! I love this story! It has such a unique storyline & I’ve never read a book like it before. This is the first book in a new series that has a HEA ending and can be read as a standalone. Katherine, the heroine, was likable and relatable. Christian, the hero & brother to a trigamist, was likable and I find myself wishing for a real life Christian of my own! I can NOT wait for the rest of the series! I definitely recommend this one! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one & REALLY can’t wait for the other wives books! Also - This book had me thinking of all the men that had gone away to fight only to come home with injuries and no job and that’s only IF they were ‘lucky’ enough to come home! *I received this book at no charge from NetGalley & I voluntarily left this review.*

Great Start. Christian Vareck, former soldier, now Duke of Randford, returns to England to find he must settle his late (half) brother’s estate. At the solicitor’s office, he meets Katherine, Lady Merriweather Vareck, his brother’s widow, well, one of them. It turns out there are three. Christian and Kat are wonderful characters. They are both caring, good hearted people. Kat is a successful businesswoman who operates a linen workshop and an emporium where the goods are sold. She hires women who otherwise would have few if any options for respectable employment. In addition to his duties to the duchy, Christian wants to help the soldiers who served under him adjust to civilian life, including having a decent place to live and honest employment. He hates seeing them begging in the street. Working together, they begin to solve the dilemma Meri has left them; they come up with some ideas to help Christian’s men, and they fall in love. Along with Kat and Christian, the story is teeming with great characters. Kat’s companion Willa and Constance’s Aunt Ventia are delightful and devoted to taking care of Kat, Constance, and Beth. Wheatley and Morgan, Christian’s butler and valet, are indispensable to him. All four bring humor to the story. This is an interesting and engaging story. There are a lot of challenges, some surprises (good and bad), and a secret or two to be revealed. I enjoyed Kat and Christian’s story. I look forward to the rest of the series. Don’t make the time. This was the silliest, historically awful, childish book. The characters spoke and read more like a modern book. The historical accuracy went right out the window as so many rules of etiquette were crossed that the ton followed. At times the main characters seemed very childish; or the writer wrote with immaturity for this genre. The main H comes off as cold, unapproachable and a former soldier in the beginning, but pages later he’s asking for approval and striving not to cry and telling someone he almost kissed a woman? And then the h fell for the main H in a matter of 4 weeks or less, but yet her first spouse she fell for in 3 wks and turns out it was a bad choice. And then it seemed everything bad kept happening to her but it was nothing very serious, all silly. Give this one a hard pass. No real story line, no real angst, the main characters never really had a connection.

Intriguing. My first read by Janna Macgregor and it was an interesting one. A woman finds out, after her husbands death, that he had not one but two other wives! (Where would he find the time!) 3 wives, 1 with child and no dowries to be found. That’s the start of twists and secrets and an interesting historical read that’s quite different. I look forward to more

A Duke in Time. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I love this author and this story so much that I also purchased a copy. All I can say is WOW!!!! This book was totally enchanting. I adored all of the characters especially Kat. What a heart of gold. The author did an outstanding job of really making me really feel for the character. I so wanted to be someone that would be included in her circle of friends! Of course, Christian was nothing to sneeze at either. The cast of characters and the circumstances that surround them are laid down in the prequel, Where There's a Will BUT it doesn't have to be read to fully enjoy this story. This is a very sexy story so I would not recommend it to anyone under the age of 18. But if you are someone like me who adores English historical romances, than look no further. In fact, I adore this author. I truly hope the author does address two secondary characters somewhere in the other two stories. That if Willa and Morgan (PLEASE!!!!)

A Duke in time. This is a wonderful love story. Their hearts are really on display. No two people could have deserved it more. Great characters with a heartfelt romance. Absolutely loved the book!

Good. I enjoyed this book and the unique storyline. Kat and Christian are wonderful characters and Kat is a very strong female character. I’m looking forward to reading Constance hea.

A delightful start to the Widow Rules series!. This was a delightful beginning to the new Widow Rules series by Janna MacGregor. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique premise of this story. Our widow, Lady Katherine Vareck discovers that she is just one of three women who were wed to Lord Meriweather Vareck when she arrives at the solicitor's office to hear the reading of his will. What transpires from there is an entertaining story full of the trials and travails Katherine faces, all while dealing with her late husband's half brother, the Duke of Randford. My heart went out to all three ladies who fell under Meri's spell and found themselves in a truly scandalous situation. Katherine most of all, whose past is something she desperately tries to keep buried. Her attraction to Christian is instantaneous, but he's her late husband's half brother, she shouldn't be feeling the things she's feeling. Christian was quite the Duke! A decorated war hero, he's trying to erase as much of his family as he can from the memories of society, and get the duchy back to a respectable level. He doesn't know what to make of his late half-brother's widows, or any of the other outlandish things Meri has been doing all these years while he was away at war. He certainly shouldn't be lusting over his brother's first wife. It is always a pleasure getting lost in Janna's stories, as she has such a way of painting a picture of her characters that helps me get lost in the pages. I couldn't put this book down, needing to know if Katherine was going to finally find some peace and happiness that's eluded her most of her life. And would Christian be able to resolve the feelings he's always harbored toward his father and second family, and find love for the first time in his life? I am most intrigued by several of the side characters in this story, and hope they'll be getting books of their own in this series, and I am in love with Willa, and wish I had someone like her in my life to keep me on the straight and narrow! Katherine and Christian's story is an excellent start in this new series and I am most excited for the rest of the widow's stories!
