El 6 de junio de 1962, los Beatles intrepretan por primera vez Love Me Do en los estudios de Abbey Road. Fue George Martin, responsable del sello Parlophone, quien organizó esta audición y quien tomó, varias semanas después, la decisión de contratarlos. Entre esa pieza, que adquiriría la condición de mítica, y Let it Be, su último single británico, publicado en marzo de 1970, poco antes de la separación del grupo, los Beatles grabaron 13 álbumes originales y compusieron más de 200 temas.
