New Beginnings and Gratitude. Book 2 of the Long Road Home Series, books written by a collection of authors (many are on my list of favorite authors and some I suspect will become additions). Maryann Jordan is on my favorite list with many series that wow me. A group of vets meet at a USO, literally a crossroads for the men. Whether by medical discharge or retirement, change, new directions, and new challenges must be faced. This is John's turn. In his journey he will open up the possibilities and find hope, find love. I loved it!! Bravo! Looking forward to more books, more journeys in this season. I received a free copy of this book via BookFunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.

John and Lucy. John and Lucy are so sweet! This was a great and heartwarming story. John and Lucy were destined to be together, even if they didn’t know it. John struggles with his return home and how best to fit back into every day life. Lucy is so uplifting and supportive. A little suspense sprinkled in. HEA.

Class Project. After being medically discharged from the Army, John Roster heads back to the only place that feels like home…Maine. On his way home, he is stranded for the evening in the airport due to a storm. He stays at the airport’s USO where he meets other injured servicemen. As they share their stories, the USO hostess imparts a cryptic message to John… Lucy Carrington’s history class has been sending letters to a deployed soldier during the school year. They never expected him to show up in their classroom, but that’s what John did. The letters kept him going during his last deployment and made the bad times a little bit better. To show his gratitude, he comes to the school to say thank you. Never in a million years did Lucy believe that her secret crush would not only show up in her classroom, but also live nearby. But she soon realizes he has a few things to figure out before he’s ready to date and commit to a relationship. I loved how Maryann Jordan tied Lighthouse Security into The Long Road Home series. Very clever. I enjoyed seeing Horace, Bray, and the crew. As a former teacher, I know there were several classes that had soldier pen pals. It means sooo much to our soldiers to receive a little bit of home while deployed. Lucy’s klutziness is adorable and I admire her drive. I loved that she watched videos to learn how to fix up her house and wanted to do it on her own. The mystery, suspense at the end made the story even better! John’s cantankerous grandpa reminded me so much of my own. Loved him! A very realistic, romantic, adorable read. This is the second novel in the series, but can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
