In a sea of powerful moments and deep emotions, that one line shines like a beacon in the darkness and puts a knife’s edge focus on all that was and all that has yet to be. There is so much I want to say but it would spoil the story. Instead, I shall leave you with this. A Countess Betrayed, the first book in the Storyville Saga is a tale of lost hopes and broken dreams, of survival and building walls, only to evolve into something so devastatingly beautiful and bittersweet. This is a story I highly recommend. Jade Alters has a way of weaving the story in such a manner that you don’t realize how much you’ve fallen in love until you find yourself suddenly at the end with a heart full of emotions and a mind spinning with all the twists and turns you’ve seen the characters through. If you’ve read Jade Alters before, I don’t need to say anymore, you already know how brilliant she is. But if you haven’t read her before, I must insist that you do. She shares a pantheon of authors I adore, joining a rare squad of Stephanie Rowe, Bella Benz, Julia Goldhirsch, and Isabelle Hardesty.

A Countess Betrayed. An amazing read of old New Orleans. Witches, black magic with a lot of action and very entertaining. Wonderful characters that will have you wanting more. ❤️❤️📚👍

Fantastic Historical Read. I absolutely love Ravenna and her story, her character evolves from being sent from her home in Italy to marry a man in New Orleans. Living with a drunk that lies, cheats and neglects her, to becoming a Madam, through it all she she continues to build walls around her heart as she makes her way in the world. She is such a powerfully developed and strong willed character, I can’t wait for more! The storyline itself is also amazing, it’s intriguing, alluring and kept me enthralled from start to finish. A fantastic start to what will be a fantastic series I’m sure.

Enjoyable read. A different style of story from Jade with this historical romance that has a paranormal twist. Another good read with intriguing characters and a story that pulls you in. I received this story as an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An Interesting Story set in 1907 Louisiana. There is so much to like about this historical romance. A great look into the hardship of a widowed women and the choices she must make. This book is also full of voodoo, Strega magic, mystery, lies, secrets, corruption, and love. Darius is my favorite character. Charming and naive, a man who debunks magic. That he is a straightlaced detective for the police makes him even more endearing. He definitely met his match when he meets up with Ravenna. A book that opens up interesting and keeps you reading until the end.
