It’s time for the corpse king to go down!. Finally, the corpse king is no more. This isn’t really a spoiler, for any of you this statement might upset. If you’re reading the series in order, this was given away in the 13th book in the series. We finally have made it to Rosalind’s book. It seems fitting, somehow, that one of her mates turns out to be Loki, the trickster. Albeit, Odin’s trying to teach him a lesson, so he has very little magic. This makes him only a little help beyond what a regular berserker can provide. Rosalind is, of course, on her way to try to destroy the corpse king. She’s been on a collision course with the corpse king throughout several books in this series, so it’s no surprise that she was the one chosen to attempt to defeat him. After several books where Rosalind put others of her orphan “friends” down, insulting and tormenting them over their choice to take Berserker mates, during her trek to the corpse king’s castle, she stumbles on a Berserker who appeals to her. While initially he spanks her, this book doesn’t follow the love-hate pattern of the previous books in this serious. Rosalind falls for both of her men fairly quickly as they protect her over and over again on her quest. It was a nice change of pace. Overall, this book was a team effort of witches, berserkers, and even a god working together to defeat the corpse king. Even the corpse king’s dead wives showed up again to help Rosalind. I always find team efforts are more realistic than one person saving the day. It just makes for a great book. I am curious to see what demons the future books will take on now that the big bad of 7-8 books in this series has been defeated. Definitely not a book to miss
