Expectations?. I really loved the military aspect of this and especially the respect and honor between the. characters. I may have read this book after one of the worst I have ever read and it made this seem especially good, no, it was good all by itself. Thanks

It Ain’t Over…. I love a good spacer story. Lots of action and characters to care about. You cheer them and worry with them the whole way to the end, when hopefully they bring the bad guys to justice. This an excellently paced novel, not constant action and explosions, but not all techno jargon and talking heads either. It has a nice balance that keeps me reading until the last page. I will definitely be buying the next installment in this series.

The most exciting book in long time. Born in 1940 I love the book can’t wait to read next one. Dee

To new beginnings!. Fairly well written. A few too many deus ex machina moments. Everything fell into place in a fairly predictable way. But still interesting.

Unexpected but loved. There were so many things I liked about this book. It’s way, way in the future but tosses in some old Earth references to keep things in perspective. I liked the characters and appreciated that it didn’t drop into the usual romantic attractions so many do. Even the various life forms are interesting. And I appreciate the “good guys win but it’s tough” approach. More power to you!

Happy Accident for me (but maybe not my wife).. I found the book by accident, and a fortunate accident it was. As a long time fan of old school military and adventure sci-fi I found the book riveting, and much to my wife's consternation, I read it late into the night until I finished it.

Start of a Great Sci-Fi Space Opera. Fast paced action meets great storytelling! Read it in one day. Thank you Rob!

Indescribably good. I have a lot to say about this book First, I am very thankful that this book was free. This is probably the #1 free book that I have ever read Second, yes you should read it. It is a long book but I never found myself getting bored or losing interest at any point. I also cannot wait to read the second book and would recommend getting that one too (it isn’t free though) Lastly, I have one very small, itsy bitsy complaint. Nothing went wrong for the main character. While this book was amazing to read I feel as if it would have been better if at least something that Cole tried failed. Other than that I think you’ll find this book tough to put down once you start reading it.

Fast-paced, gripping action!. An epic tale of a young man and his AI against the galaxy of civilized worlds. From freighter captain to commander of an interstellar battleship, Cole saves people and fights those who would enslave and conquer star systems and all who inhabit them. A great read for all SCI-fi enthusiasts!

Great Read!. Enjoyed the read immensely - reminded me of all of the Great Space Opera I have read before. The story was fast-paced, action-packed, and filled with intriguing characters. I grew up reading the old Tom Swift and Rick Brandt boys novels from the 50’s. I graduated in my teens to EE “Doc” Smith, Heinlein, Clarke, and Asimov. After 55 years of being a Sci-Fi Fan, I still have a fondness for that certain style these authors (and many others) employed. This work reminds me of them and of the newer Jack Campbell.

Great adventure. Loved it!

Great science fiction boo. Incredible well written that had me on the edge of my seat and wanting to continue reading. The 700 pages might make you or others want to not read, but don’t worry! It has content and interesting stuff with that always makes sure you are never bored or see reading as a chore

It ain’t over!. So much fun! Gets me back in the groove for some more Sci-fi reading! LOVED it!

It Ain’t Over . . .. Although just a first round in a series, this book is worth a read. Characters are well developed and the plot keeps moving forward. I don’t know if I’ll download any more books in the series but am considering doing so.

Sci-fi. Just wanted a sci-fi book this time instead of murder mystery. This one hit the spot! Good people righting wrongs adventurously.

It ain’over. Could not stop reading it. Excellent book and love the characters.

Good Book. This was a good book from page one to the very end. The end came too soon. No time or salt was lost getting used to the author’s style. The characters were likable and enjoyable. I am buying the next book now. Melba Howard

Enjoyable. Read the book and enjoyed it very much. Already purchased the next one but realized that each book in the series is shorter than the one before it. Jumped ahead to the last book and realized it was very short and only a dollar less. I read a lot and when the book is enjoyable I like it to be a long story. A little disappointed that each book gets shorter and shorter. That being said they better be great or my next review won’t be so nice ✌🏽

GREAT BLAST-OFF FOR AN EXCITING NEW SERIES!. This series opener is so well done it needs to head to the big or small screen! I listened to the audiobook read by Tia Rider and it was so exciting that I kept listening until I was falling asleep last night and started up as soon as I awoke this morning. I simply couldn't put it down until it was finished! Why? It was the best written sci-fi I've reading a long time.. The physics are believable because Rob Kerns takes you through just the right amount of tech stuff to make it interesting without being boring. At one point Captain Cole is saying, 'I asked Srexx ( the sentient ship brain that runs the ship) how all that works and he gave me 10 pages of equations, so I still don't know, but it's enough that he does." Srexx and the ship are many thousands of years old and so advanced that the technology of the current day (which is hundreds of centuries in our future) is so primitive to Srexx that it is laughable. There is laugh-out-loud comedy to break the tension on this really fast paced romp. The book starts right out explosively! and never stops. The Hero is so smart, has such a big heart, and is impossibly brave and daring, while at the same time plagued with self doubt. There is always room in his heart for 1 (or a hundred, or a thousand) more, no matter what species they are or what their life has been. He is a firm believer in redemption, second chances, and equal opportunity for everyone. Rarely will you find a hero or a cast of characters that are so skillfully, artfully, embodied that it is more like watching a 3D movie than listening to (or reading) a book. If You like reading, rather than listening, you can find the whole collection of 4 books here right now for just $9.99. I think that's a terrific bargain! But I like this narrater so much that I am glad that my library is getting the series in audio books. Finally I want to say that Rob knows exactly the right moment to end a book in a series. Sometimes a book seems to end because there is a deadline to be met no matter where the story is, or the author has just run out of steam. Knowing just the right moment to draw the line is a true skill that, here, is an excellent example of a mini master class in writing. Some of the problems have been satisfactorily worked out while there is a framework in place to get you excited to pick up the next book right away, to get on board and join this wonderful crew as the adventure continues. This series is NOT TO BE MISSED!

My Haven. From the moment Cole found Srexx, there was a certain humour that lived amongst the both of them and was very evident in their dialogue throughout the story. I love how the writer made it possible for us to understand the different terminology used within the story, as well as helping us paint a picture of the different moments that took place from the first time we meet Srexx to the Rescuing of the Thyrras.

I loved this book!. Well written and fast paced story that pulls you into worlds of adventures…. It is well balanced and well thought out….the main characters are likeable and there is a feel good factor that you can rely on the central character to serve justice.

Needs more villainy.. Can only assume Elon Musk asked an AI to write this and then edited out all the screw-ups he would have made and any intelligence on the part of the enemy. Still, a pleasant read and devoid of any excess wokĂŠ-ness. (WokĂŠ; 'wow-kay. The condition of being over-woke.)

Pretty good.. Well written, to the point and nicely paced.

Great book. Great book and characters

Great story with excellent attention to detail.. The story moved fluently. The attention to detail was impressive. I was left with the conviction that the attention to detail will pay dividends in the later stories.

Great Space Story. I’m enjoying this book very much. Not so technical that I couldn’t grasp the intent but it had some very personable characters. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Unexpected gem. I was looking through my digital library and found this book. Must have downloaded it and forgotten I had it. After I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. Humorous, compelling story; likeable characters. Loved it. Bought the next one as soon as I finished this.

It ain’t over. Love it , it kept me glued to it , it was unputdownable.

Fantastic. Great reading. Sorry that I finished so soon. Story could go on and on. The characters are so well written that you can almost put yourself in their shoes. Didn’t think I would like the book but I am so happy that I read it. If you are a sci-fi fan this is a must read book. Would like to see it as a movie.

Wonderful. Exactly Whatsapp I am looking for in a sci-fi adventure

Great Read. From start to finish this was a great story... Fun reading, entertaining and engaging. Characters were believable and well developed... This will be my new favourite series!
