Emilio Uranga y Ramón López Velarde fueron los principales testigos de una dramática historia; la de una "patria suave" y su amada imposible, "ojerosa y pintada": la Revolución.
Difícilmente encontraremos una lectura de López Velarde tan sostenida y con tantas capas como la de Emilio Uranga, filósofo y periodista. Las obras de uno y otro forman uno de los dísticos más agudos y más singulares de nuestra cultura. A ambos les interesó "todo lo que no tiene fin preciso, los despilfarros de fuerza y de pasión, lo fútil, lo que nadie mira, lo sencillo y suave, la debilidad, el pecado, la tristeza". Uranga supo ver en López Velarde, no sólo a un poeta católico, criollo y nostálgico, sino a un filósofo "cósmico", universal, humanista, el fundador, junto con Madero, de una "patria íntima". El presente libro reúne por vez primera los textos que Uranga dedicó al poeta zacatecano a lo largo de tres décadas. La mayoría de estos textos tuvo la vida efímera de un día en las páginas de un periódico.
