Wicked!. The feud started with a pig, or maybe a woman, and went on for centuries. To the younger generations of Davies and Montgomery, the feud has become a way for them to pester each other relentlessly. When Captain Morgan Davies returns to London after the war, he has two goals. He wants revenge on the mapmaker he feels responsible for his capture, and he has a prize to claim from a bet made with Harriet Montgomery – three kisses if he returns from the war. These two have been attracted to each other for a long time, but have not revealed their feelings to each other. Morgan and Harriet’s story is a wicked game filled with bickering, snarky, flirty banter, and sizzling chemistry. How long will it take them to realize they belong together? Along with the fun comes action, intrigue, and danger in the form of a French officer looking for a particular map. Morgan and Harriet are great together and totally entertaining. Their friends and family are fun and likeable. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition to the series. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Not very daring 3.5. This book was alright. Little to no excitement or adventure. Like eating a bowl of warm soup: just fine, slightly tasteful.

The feud continues!. Love it! The series is a winner and the plots are all different but the feud continues between the Montgomery’s and Davies. Harriet has been secretly in love with Morgan since childhood. They grew up together and keeping to tradition had teased and played tricks on Morgan. As time had pass and Morgan is off to war against the French only a dare could guarantee his return. Three kisses. Morgan has lusted for Harry still he was 16, now a man and returning from the war he is ready to claim his reward. The dare of 3 kisses kept him alive while a prisoner of war, but she never said where those kisses should be placed. And Morgan plans to use it to his advantage, hoping that time has softened Harry hate for the Davies. And the the kisses could become more……..maybe she could love him as he realizes he loves her. A real page turner again, beware there is a steamy factor. 4.5 🌟……….I can’t wait to read Rhys story. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. My New Favorite!. A Wicked Game by Kate Bateman is the third book in the Ruthless Rivals series. A brilliant and fast-paced regency romance between lifelong, childhood rivals, that turns into a sizzling, passionate attraction. Full of snarky banter, constant competitions, and sparing with one another, that made me want this story to never end. Oh so deliciously wicked, I could barely breathe for the anticipation of what was to come next. “If there was one thing impossible for a Davies to resist, it was a challenge from a Montgomery.” Harriet Montgomery and Morgan Davies’ mutual animosity for one another had been going on for years while growing up, all the while secretly wanting one another. So when Morgan is about to leave for war, she desperately wants him to return safely so she makes a bet with him… if he returns home unscathed, she will grant him three kisses. Two long years later, after traveling the globe with His Majesty’s Royal Navy, and a stint in prison, Morgan returns back home to London with two goals, to seduce Harriet and to get revenge for being lead astray by the mapmaker H.Crusoe after ending up in prison on the island of Martinique. “Because imprisonment had granted him a shocking epiphany: He needed Harriet Montgomery. In his bed. In his life. Permanently.” I adored these two with their quick wit, love of the absurd, a thirst for knowledge and adventures. There is such a delicious prelude to Harriet’s seduction that had my heart pounding at times! “Their three kisses would be just the beginning - He wanted all of her, body and soul. Nothing less than total surrender would do.” “Her map had led to his hunger, thirst and exhaustion. He could make her suffer the same torments but with a decidedly carnal twist; she would hunger for his touch, thirst for his kisses, and emerge exhausted from his lovemaking.” Kate Bateman packed this story full of adventure, intrigue and sensual, sizzling heat. These two melted my heart. I loved how much Morgan wanted and loved Harriet with all of his heart. I also adored seeing all the characters from the previous books. Such a fantastic series. But “A Wicked Game” is now my new favorite. I LOVED IT!

4.5-5 Stars!!. 4.5-5 Stars! Kate Bateman has killed it yet again with this book. This is the 3rd book in the ‘Ruthless Rivals’ series and each book is as good as the next! They can all be read as standalone books but this is such a great series, I’d recommend reading all of them. The main characters of this book were Harriet and Morgan and I loved both of them and their witty banter. Faux enemies/friends to lovers historical romance with an HEA ending and some hot ‘sexy times’ scenes. I definitely recommend this book and the other books in the series. This series has made Kate Bateman a favorite must read author for me! *I received this at no charge & I voluntarily left this review.*

A wicked game. What a wonderful love story! Morgan and Harriet have known each other since they were kids. What neither of them knew was that they both had deeper feelings for each other. What Morgan goes through to show her how much he loves her is wonderful. Great characters and great story.

Delicious!!. Smiling the whole time reading “A Wicked Game” by Kate Bateman!! Book three of the Ruthless Rivals series is about oneupmanship and a teasing rivalry to keep the 500 year animosity between the neighboring Davies and Montgomery families alive. However, Mapmaker Harriet Montgomery and Captain Morgan Davies, to put it nicely, are childhood frenemies who pine for each other!! Their teasing banter is delicious!! Both Harriet and Morgan have a quick wit. Neither wants to concede to the other. They do call a truce when one needs help from actual enemies. Before the war, Harriet and Morgan made a bet, three kisses granted if Morgan survived. He absolutely made it back home to collect. Just to torture Harriet, he warns her the lip locking will be anytime and any place on her person. If you love rivals to lovers, enemies to lovers, then this book is for you! We anticipate and are tortured alongside Harriet as to when and where the kisses will be, driving the book to be a fast read with the comfort of knowing Morgan’s swoon worthy intention!!
