The Wanderer Book Reviews
The Wanderer by Sharon Creech Book Summary
Newbery Honor Book * ALA Notable Children's Book
“A beautifully written and imaginatively constructed novel that speaks to the power of survival and the delicacy of grief.” —School Library Journal (starred review)
This acclaimed bestselling Newbery Honor Book from multi-award-winning author Sharon Creech is a classic and moving story of adventure, self-discovery, and one girl's independence.
Thirteen-year-old Sophie hears the sea calling, promising adventure and a chance for discovery as she sets sail for England with her three uncles and two cousins. Sophie’s cousin Cody isn’t so sure he has the strength to prove himself to the crew and to his father.
Through Sophie’s and Cody’s travel logs, we hear stories of the past and the daily challenges of surviving at sea as The Wanderer sails toward its destination—and its passengers search for their places in the world.
“Sophie is a quietly luminous heroine, and readers will rejoice in her voyage.” —BCCB (starred review)
"Like Creech's Walk Two Moons and Chasing Redbird, this intimate novel poetically connects journey with self-discovery.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Blah!. I hate this book. It is very boring at parts and the only good parts are when Cody is talking.
Amazing. Awesome story
Bad and Confusing. This book was confusing and boring. The characters were dumb, but Cody was the only good one. Sophie was the worse she acted like she knew everything about Bompie when she never met him and it doesn't explain anything. I don't even know how her parents died. This book doesn't explain anything.
Terrible. This book was boring and is a waste of time for anybody considering reading.
Whatever. I have to read this book for English class and it's boring! At some parts it's ok, but most of the time Sophie is just talking about her feelings and thoughts, not enough dialogue or action for me. Don't read if ur looking for action and excitement
The wanderer. This book is a very good book! It expresses all of the characters feeling.I hope you read this book!
Inspiring. Well the book was amazing at some parts and good the other parts but I really did enjoy this book.
amazing story. This book brought me into the story so well. When I would read I actually felt like I was there with Sophie and Cody on Gran-Manna. I couldn't put down the book. If you don't know much about the sea, this would be a great book full of humor and hidden facts about sea.
