Very Dishonest IMO. I for one am not impressed that a likeness of the 4th edition was used to advertise this old version of the Big Book. It seems that copyright laws should apply. Does anyone know how to get a complaint filed for copyright infringement? I for one want a refund!

Outdated, Ill-formatted, Unofficial. This IS NOT the current fourth edition, but instead the much older second edition. While the first 164 pages are the same, excluding the introductions, the stories in this edition are significantly different than those in the current edition. Also, as another person has mentioned, this is not AA-sanctioned or GSO-approved; profits seem to go entirely to a private individual and not the Fellowship. Note also that the entire (current) Big Book is available on the AA.org website for free.

Glad to have it in iBooks.. For all you whiners that this isn't a GSO money maker. Just remember AA's message is being delivered by this. Acceptance is the key. AA is very grassroots. I always have the big book now. This book and and the fellowship and God, have given me 6 and half years clean and sober. Download it for your iPhone and grab a newcomer.

Not For Sissies. This is a historical text. The language may put some off but this book challenges everyone to take a look at the role that ego plays in our lives. Transformation is at the core of this book. Are we more then our small self? Larry Fritzlan

How to Quit drinking!. If you want to quit drinking this is it! This is a how to book at it's very best. Every time I read this amazing book I learn something new, truly inspiring. Everyone knows a drunk, but really only a drunk knows a drunk. Usually a drunk doesn't even know he is a drunk but when he/she reads this he will know. A must read.

Wow you charge for this?. Should be free for the recovering addict.

Spiritual Change. Read this book with the assistance of an AA Sponsor and your life will change. The first 164 pages are clear cut directions to how "our" (people in recovery) lives can be changed. Don't just read it but apply it. You will see great changes in your thinking and your life. PEACE & BLESSINGS

Finally. I have a heavily marked up and highlighted big book. I've been using another app that contains the text from the big book but haven't been able o make notes, bookmark or highlight. Now I can. Thank you. Gene Roddenberry must have seen into the future. Some of you will know what I mean.

alcoholics anonymous. This is the best AA book on the app selections. I read people whining about the stories missing; but they are missing the boat. It has a highlighting option, a notes option, a word search, an underlining option and more. It has what is needed to help a person recover from alcoholism: The Doctor's Opinion, The first 164 pages of instruction on how to RECOVER from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body. With the help of the God of my understanding I found while applying the above mentioned sections to my lifeI have been sober 22 years. I'm not sure I have yet to read all of the stories. So to all of you whiners; maybe if you apply The Doctors Opinion, The first 164 pages, and the description of a Spiritual Experience to your lives, you wouldn't be whining about what's missing, and would be GRATEFUL for what IS there. As for me, I am having a ball reading the instructions yet again, and with a fresh way to do it. Thank You to however developed this. Bob Z. - Cleveland, Ohio

Big books r life savers. Why does there always have to be some type of drama having to do With a.a. I guess bill Wilson is still getting royalty checks and he's splitting them with the other crooks who published this iBook edition. Give all that drama a rest. Just be happy u can get this on a phone. Let something breath sometimes

Great Book. This is a great book! I recommend you buy this book for real or go to a meeting & someone will more than likely buy one for you. Never the less I will give 5 stars based on the book but FYI you can get this free in many different ways for your apple device... Also I don't know if the $ is going to the AA organization so I do not endorse buying this book on here. God Bless. Ps family & friends should check out Al Anon instead of this. Just a suggestion

Emerging into a new life. Life changing through and through. Although the title suggests it’s a text for alcoholics, the principles have universal application for recovering from any mental and spiritual ailment. This book is about a profound transformation. Not to be missed!

Not the newest edition. It's misleading and disappointing that you used an image from the 4th edition of Big Book - as if this were the newest edition. You should clearly indicate that this is an older version.

PDF. Haha I support profit, but for those who are complaining you can easily download the PDF files for this on the AA website and transfer the files from a computer to the iPhone for free. Just letting you know! :)

Disappointed. I bought this thinking it was the complete Big Book. Then I was looking for the Acceptance story that is in The 3rd and 4th edition. Not here, this is the old 2nd Edition. I needed it for a step study class. Very disappointing.

Wrong place to get the book. Go to AA website or meeting to get book that way money goes to organization to help others....the whole point of our fellowship!

To the guy writing about profit..... Who cares buddy? They deserve some money after saving mine and many other lives. You obviously haven't read it. Writing reviews about books you haven't read? Get a life...I can suggest a pretty good book about that.

I love this! Best thing I've done w phone. This a great tool to have in recovery. Big book in my pocket everywhere I go. I can search for things easily when I want to find them. I can highlight something important; & if I read it again in a month but don't want it highlighted anymore I can remove it. I can write notes and you can highlight words and select define if you want to know what they mean. Any alcoholic w access to this should spend the $5. I love it.

Old version and weird margins. A bunch of the stories in the back are missing and I'm realizing that it's because this is not the most recent version even though the cover displayed is. The margins are really unusually tight.

Sick Fraud?. If this is not authorized by AA and is claiming to be the program literature, then it is fraudulent. This "publisher" may be responsible for stealing from AA...causing both the misery and spilled blood of sick and suffering alcoholics. How abhorrent to profit from the misery of others; the twelve traditions are there to help prevent this very thing. How is this not copyright infringement? Please do not buy this! AA is about to release an approved app and literature for the iPad...please wait and do not give one more penny to this fraud.

THIS IS THE 3rd edition NOT the 4Th. I was under the impression that this was the 4th edition given the cover is for that one. But it's not.....UPDATE! Keep or get them all... And they should be FREE in my opinion. If someone needs a book of Alcoholics Anonymous they should be able to get it

Great. This book and the fellowship has saved my life.

Do your research. Obviously some of you haven't the slightest idea as to why the written form of the big book of A.A. was first published. If you do your research you will find that the two founders of A.A. Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob were both business men in need of money and decided to develop a written description of the 12 step program that saved their lives. Though they knew that this book could potentially help millions recover from their hopeless state of mind, the original reason this book was published was solely for their profit. However this became a problem for the two of them when the IRS had to get involved because an "anonymous" entity had been making a substantial income from a book that was not being taxed. This caused them both to have to pay back taxes. At this point they decided that while A.A. should be fully self supporting through it's own contributions, it should probably be non profit as well. Enjoy the update and anyone that is still sore about the fact that they can afford an iPad and can't afford an A.A. Big Book App (which a hard copy is between $10-$15 everywhere else including directly from A.A.) should probably put this concern on their 4th step and while you're at it give your sponsor a call. I'm sure that they would love to hear your disapproval about spending money on a program designed to save lives, regardless of who may profit from it. Go pray about it or something.

Identify, don't compare.. No matter the edition, how old the stories, I can always identify with something I read in the Big Book. I am a garden variety drunk, I am not unique. This is a fabulous copy that I can keep on my iPad, that I can highlight and take notes on. (the PDF free version online does not let you do that). As far as where the money is going for this purchase, it will be taken care of, but first things first, I want my sobriety easily accessible on my iPad, and this works for me.

Plagiarized Book Book. This is an unauthorized publishing of the book “Alcoholics Anonymous’ which is published by AA World Services.

Best e-version. It's the only one with the original 164 Page numbers pre-printed, and I've bought several, including the official 4th e-edition. iBooks changes the page numbers based on your zoom level. So without pre printed page #s, if you are not in the tiny default text view, and your sponsor tells you to go to a page, you can't find it in the other versions. That's why this one's the best!

Concept A+: grammar D. I love all the stories. Poor noun verb agreement, spelling, omitted words on many pages leads me to believe it needs an editor.

Not accurate. Isn't the current edition

This is not the 4th edition. This is the second edition. I found this out while looking for a specific passage that is not included in this ebook.

Beware - Not AA approved. Proceeds from this iBook do not go to AA. This edition is not under copyright and Dean, the publisher, is the one profiting, NOT AA. Apple should remove this iBook and offer it freely as the first and second edition are public domain - this version is poorly formatted and what he is charging is robbery. If any portion of proceeds go to AA, he certainly does not disclose that information. I'll cut him some slack on the iPhone/iPad app because he put extra tools and a lot of work into it, but this book is public domain and should be offered freely by Apple. If you want the big book on your iPhone/iPad, buy his app - it's cheaper with more features. AA has committees working on releasing digital iBooks and apps, it's too bad Dean would rather profit for himself with these than be of service to AA committees in getting the big book, 12x12, etc released so the fellowship may benefit as a whole. It's pretty disgusting whats happening here and goes against the principles and traditions of AA. I wonder if he's even a member of the fellowship or simply profiting off the addict? Think about it and choose wisely before you buy this iBook and support this seller.

It's ok. This book has quite a few problems It's not the edition that we read at most meetings it's an older version with less stories in it. Page numbers are missing. The ppl selling this book are not donating any of it's proceeds to AA So that's differently wrong. There are a few pluses also Great search also fonts and easy to read. This book is good in a pinch,mostly.
