A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L'Engle Book Summary

In A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L'Engle, a companion to the Newbery Award winner A Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door, the Murry and O'Keefe Families enlist the help of the unicorn, Gaudior, to save the world from imminent nuclear war.

Fifteen-year-old Charles Wallace and the unicorn Gaudior undertake a perilous journey through time in a desperate attempt to stop the destruction of the world by the mad dictator Madog Branzillo. They are not alone in their quest.

Charles Wallace's sister, Meg--grown and expecting her first child, but still able to enter her brother's thoughts and emotions by "kything"--goes with him in spirit. Charles Wallace must face the ultimate test of his faith and his will as he is sent within four people from another time, there to search for a way to avert the tragedy threatening them all.

No… I don’t recommend.. The first two books are great, but this one is like a dull pencil you can’t sharpen anymore.

Excellent. Excellent book.

Creative Book award. When you jut begin to read it, your eyes will be attached to it like when you stare into your boyfriends mesmerizing eyes. The setting is immensely wonderful that you will escape into Wales where unicorns can take you to any tumultuous times of history. They are trying to discover a secret that will hit your with realization at the end.

The first two books were good, this wasnt. The first 2 books in this series were definitely worth reading, but there was something about this book that made so it couldn't hold my attention. I attempted to continue reading and i think it was the randomness, how it kept changing that really got annoying. I eventually stopped reading and simply found another book.

Do not recommend. The first two books of this series were really interesting and constantly fun but this book bored me. I had to force myself to read it and I wasn’t engaged with the book. The constant time jumps in the book made it hard to read and the characters were uninteresting because of how little you saw about them. Going into this book you would expect it to be about Meg and Charles but it was mostly about these new characters that never felt fully developed which made it all the more disappointing.

Great Book!. The books I have read so far in this series have been great, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet does not disappoint. With vivid detail and a great plot line, this book is a must-read.

Ok. The first two books were stunning, but it was a chore to read the book. I eventually finished it but I took me almost a whole month. When I read it I was in 3rd grade though, so I’d recommend it for older ages.

Great!. The book was great! I hope everyone who reads it enjoys it.

A Swiftly Tilting Planet. It’s okay… but there are some surprises that could make you mad in this book— also happy.
