I loved this book. I was not expecting certain scenes, which made them all the better. I love this story of how she starts off hating him and learns to love him.

Really likes it!. Given this story is set in the late 1800's I found some of the language to be a bit modern...made it difficult to believe in some parts of the novel...however, it is a great read with a great plot. Really enjoyed once I got past those parts.

Horrible!!. This book was so awful!! Not only was it one of the most poorly written I have ever come across (note to author, NO ONE EVER SAID 'TONGUE ACTION' IN THE 19TH CENTURY!!) It's also one of the most infuriating! All the characters agree that the heroine is smart and kind and wonderful, yet they all tell her she's just being stubborn and that they know what's best for her when she's forced into a marriage that she doesn't want, and is extremely vocal about not wanting, to simply get her out of their hair. And their pitch for this dude is that he won't be a dick to her and may even have a sense of humor.......WHAT A DREAMBOAT!!! I lost any sympathy for the "hero" when he went along with this horrendous premise. The advice he's given is, "just kiss her. Even though she's SCREAMING 'no', what she really means is yes. You as a man, just need to show her that." I'm paraphrasing, but that is what he is told and GOES ALONG WITH!! That is a level of gross I just don't tolerate from authors who live in THIS CENTURY!!!

Disappointed. With mixed thoughts I purchased this story since the reviews were polar opposite. The main characters are interesting and engaging, but this is the saddest love story in that someone is treated so poorly. The lead female character is a rude spoiled rich brat. She is headed for the street since her father is broke how about showing some respect for the poor guy trying to be kind. And the main male character comes across as the butler not the rich man. It was disturbing the read about the usual obsession the lead characters brother had about her consummating her marriage.

Honestly like it.. Great read for the price. The storyline was not to quick but not slow. Must read for those who like romance books.

Mostly good, but too much religion. This story was mostly good, but the religious overtones and references smacked too much like an agenda to me. All the unmarried men are virgins? This was a distracting plot point for me.

Not worth the time. I got this book because it was free and sounded interesting but it was a waste of time. The plot might work if it was set in an older style society like Saudi Arabia or India but trying to place it in modern day America was a mistake. The heroine is not only forced into a marriage by her family on the basis it's for her own good, but locked in a room by family and friends to ensure she goes through with it. Then the town all treat her like an idiot for not being happy with her situation. I strongly urge you not to bother with this book.

Not the worst book ever !. The plot was ok but predictable! The setting was awful though. It does not make any sense to set a story in "today's" era and have it contain ideals of the past. But perhaps some wish to believe chivalry is still existent in today's society. :)

Wow. I thought this was going to be boring Was I wrong. At the begging I had to force myself to keep on reading even though I was getting bored, but then when i started to actually get into the story it was great am a wonderful romance, hope to see more

Wonderful. This is a wonderful book, and I couldn't take my hands off of this! Ruth Ann Nordin is the best at making these types of books. It made me feel that I was living in that era.

Ending. Justin shouldn't loose his money!

Steady story line. I found the story line interesting, however the end was a little rushed and I didn't really buy into the Harrison being completely oblivious to his fathers side business. I didn't particularly like Carrie's character, the author made it hard to like her at all Over all it was an OK read

The Cold Wife.. Personally, I don't know why I wasted my time reading until I had finished the book. The plot was boring and predictable. Characters were totally unbelievable; I doubt the author wanted them to appear that stupid. I wonder if any of my children would have been so quiet if they had 'gotten LOST' in the forest?

Don't waste your time. Awful!
