From the author of the beloved classic Where the Red Fern Grows comes a timeless adventure about a boy who discovers a tree full of monkeys.
The last thing fourteen-year-old Jay Berry Lee expects to find while trekking through the Ozark Mountains of Oklahoma is a tree full of monkeys. But then Jay learns from his grandpa that the monkeys have escaped from a traveling circus, and there’s a big reward for the person who finds and returns them.
His family could really use the money, so Jay sets off, determined to catch them. But by the end of the summer, Jay will have learned a lot more than he bargained for—and not just about monkeys.

Awesome book! Gets you into it, it kept you thinking. Very very good book!. Read it.
Absolute poo. I have to read it for school and it’s literally awful and is super boring, if you have to read it over the summer don’t and just say you weren’t sure if you were coming back this year 💀 also this book is made for 4th through 6th graders.... I’m in 8th. and the Cherokee were forced by the us military to march from the Appalachian homelands to Oklahoma on “The Trail of Tears” where thousands of them died from starvation and other things soooo they wouldn’t have traded land with a us farmer. It’s so historically inaccurate 😑
Loved this book as a boy and now as a father.. Great heartwarming book of the exciting summer experience of a boy in the early history of the American Ozarks. My mother read this to me as a boy while taking a road trip. I felt like I shared Jay Berry's adventures. I cried then at the conclusion of the book, as I do now reading it to my sons.
Great book. This book is great! All i have to say!
