David Rocks!. So much about learning is not only the subject matter but the personality of the the teacher. David rocks. He is passionate about teaching it motivates you to want to learn more than you set out to learn or more than you thought you were capable of. For me, I’m a visual cerebral person so having his book to corroborate his teachings enthralled and ignited me to dive into exploring guitar methods. I found myself, as a complete guitar beginner, reading the pages and diagrams quickly and fluidly because it made sense. I’m jazzed to learn because he & his book make it easy. Now, if he can only teach me to sing...

I play guitar professionally in both the studio (recording songs for tv/film/commercials) and on stage (toured with Blues Traveler, Feist, Gin Blossoms, many more). There are lots of great books out there on how to learn guitar, it can be overwhelming to choose just one. THIS book is still my favorite guitar guide - it’s thoughtfully crafted and teaches you guitar with a great foundation that will elevate both your guitar playing and understanding and joy of music. This book never ceases to be useful for me, can’t recommend it enough! Beginner to advanced .. this is one book you’ll be thankful to have.

Book and Guitar Instruction on Skype from David Moses. I was very impressed with Cat On Strat Guitar Method by David Moses. It was interesting to read, easy to understand, and extremely informative. I have never found another guitar book that covers so much territory. I was so glad to find out that Dave offers guitar lessons to long distance students via Skype, so I contacted him and have had several lesson already. Dave is a great guy to meet. He is kind, patient, and he relates to wherever I am coming from and whatever level I am holding. He is positive and provides encouragement. His love of music, guitar, and teaching is evident; and it certainly has been a motivating factor for me. Finally I have learned so much in a short period of time. David starts with the basics and uses innovative and clever ways to become familiar with the all the notes on the fretboard. I have never had the opportunity to learn this method. We are even beginning to work on songs now, that Dave has asked me to choose. I highly recommend Dave's book and guitar instruction for anyone who is looking to acquire valuable information and to develop their guitar playing skills. He is an excellent guitar instructor. L. Clear, Easy to Follow & Real Results. Cat on Strat was my go-to when I was first learning. Couldn’t play a single chord before I picked it up but the readability and progression of this book has made it a resource that helped me get jamming in 6 months. Even all these years later, I still can come back to it for a quick refresher or some interesting yet attainable theory that constantly adds new dimensions to my playing. It’s no substitute for actually playing and practicing but if you have plans to pick up a guitar for the first or five hundredth time, you will not regret picking this book up.

So Good!. Want to know everything about guitar? Get this book! This book is a fantastic overview of the guitar. It's really perfect. This book is so thorough and just about everything you might want to know about playing guitar, buying guitars and learning music theory is in there. If you play guitar and would like to advance then this is the book for you! It does not talk down to the reader instead it gives a the reader enough information to teach themselves what they need to know about guitar at just the right pace, including lots of theory, styles, scales, chords and definintions, all done with beautiful easy to read diagrams. This book is simply the best organized, most information packed book on the guitar that I have ever found, and believe me have looked! If you are a beginner or a professional guitarist, you will find something in here to improve your knowhow and playing!
