A fantastic tale of the true meaning of courage. I first encountered these books as they were being written, and have loved them, and re read them, ever since. Readers new to the story don’t know how lucky they are to read them all together. I remember more than a year of impatient longing after the end of the second book waiting for the third to be published. Highly recommended to any and all.

Like the prior reviewer said - "All time favorite book…ok 3 books!". Love, love, love this series. I have a well worn paper copy that I loan out to friends who all love it. Very happy to grab an ebook version! The story revolves around a young woman who runs away from home and joins up with a baron's militia and her adventures learning the military trade as she learns and grows her skills and abilities. Eventually learning that she has the power to bring real good into the world. She's a great role model for young girls; smart, honest, independent. Makes mistakes but learns from them. Many a time I had a catch in my throat during her trials and tribulations and enjoyed reading her surmounting them. Series is joy to read (again and again) and highly recommended!

One of the best trilogies since the Lord of the Rings. Elizabeth Moon weaves a tale here that is high fantasy. Few books published since LOTR have done this. I have read many in my years on earth and add this one beside my copy of LOTR as I read on the other tales of Paksenarrion’s world.

Excellent Fantasy Fiction!. When I came across the trilogy by Elizabeth Moon, "Deed of Paksenarian," I'd never read anything by the author before. Now I'm looking forward to, and counting the pennies to, read all of her books, especially the Eight Kingdom ones. I was hooked and sucked into the story of Paksenarian, Paks for short, within the first paragraph! She goes from a young, eager girl who knows little of the world, but wants to be a soldier, and maybe someday a hero, a paladin who helps the helpless. Through three well-written books, we go with Paks as she learns just what a hero is, what it means to be chosen to help the helpless. I found this a moving tale, one of my all-time favorites!

All time favorite book...ok 3 books!. I have 2 copies of this trilogy. Both are fraying with the number of times I have read them. Now as an ebook I can be sure all the pages are in one pace. This is seriously a must-read for fantasy readers and especially for women! Paks is a dynamic, amazing, real person and her stubbornness and naïveté are a large bit of what makes her so real. We all have beliefs and most everyone has had someone try to convert them to some other religion or belief system. It is refreshing to see her struggle to keep herself whole and actually accomplish it while still learning and growing through all the books. Can't say enough about this series...but will stop there for now.
