I skipped chapters. I was excited to pre-order this book and disappointed when I finally started reading it. The preview was awesome, the book itself was dry. The characters just didn’t have the chemistry or maybe they did and the story just wasn’t told well. They didn’t seem to have much depth. I completely skipped over the side story of the valet and the sister. You always know how these stories are going to end - couldn’t the telling at least be interesting. I was bored and just wanted to finish it because…. I don’t know why.

Delicious tension. On a dark and stormy night, the new and true Duke of Penning, Lucian Ross, and Miss Susanna Lockhart met in the double romance “The Duke Starts a Scandal” by Sophie Jordan! This book is well-written and a quick read! Both main characters have a well-hidden and highly scandalous background that unfolds suspensefully and seamlessly. The delicious tension between the duke and his housekeeper keeps us wanting more and we find ourselves on a roller coaster of emotions. Amongst the seriousness regarding a dirtbag villain and the status of her job position, Jordan weaves in comedic relief. If you enjoy a story of love and woe then love again, then I highly recommend this book!
