As sister to and talent manager of world-famous rock star Julio Estrella, Danita Ramirez could have the pick of any man she wants. As for Duncan, with his mother at death's door and his finances quickly dwindling, he jumps at the opportunity to go on tour with Julio Estrella as his opening act.

His only goal initially is to make a good bit of money quickly, so that he can pay off his mother's ever-growing pile of medical bills. But then, Julio's sister, Danita, is there every time he turns around. She is not only one of the most beautiful women Duncan has ever seen, but also one of the most intelligent.

Unfortunately, she seems to take an instant dislike to him. At first, that's fine, because he's there to make money, not start a romance. Trouble is, the more he gets to know her, the more he likes her. And the day she throws herself into his arms after receiving a shocking message on her phone…well!

Still, he thinks that it's best if he keeps his distance. Warm one minute and cold the next, Danita is the epitome of female mystery. But then, one day, Duncan gets a strange text message. Then another. Both naming Danita. He has no choice but to confront her about it. Eventually, Julio's family must be told about the ominous messages that he and Danita have both been receiving – and Duncan, along with his ailing mother, is brought into their home in between shows for security reasons.

Since Danita lives on the same property while she is in the United States, she and Duncan are bound to encounter each other on a regular basis. The tension between Julio and his wife, Duncan's mum  struggling to regain her health, Danita's constant mixed messages toward Duncan, his strong urge to protect her from the past that has suddenly caught up to her…what was supposed to have been a simple gig turns out to be nothing of the kind.
